Women's choice center buys planned parenthood building
Services will be expanded by the Women’s Choice Center in Bettendorf at a new location.
They announced they bought the former planned parenthood building across the street.
Planned Parenthood closed it’s doors in May 2017 after Iowa’s new budget blocked state funding to planned parenthoods across the state.
The move left more than 14,000 Iowans without access to certain services.
The 8,500 square foot building will be split into two sides all with new carpet and new paint.
On one side there will be a pro life, pro family medical practice, with a family medical doctor.
It will offer nat pro technology which will be the first ever in the Quad Cities.
They will also offer mental health services.
On the other side the women’s choice center will move over and offer their free services as normal.
The current women’s choice center will transform into a kids academy offering summer camps for kids 5 to 12 years old, tutoring and even a daycare.
Women’s Choice Center Executive Director Vicki Tyler said they wanted the former planned parenthood building to be totally transformed giving it a new feel.
“We just want women to know that we are here for them and we’re going to do our very best to serve them,” Tyler said. “If you have a pregnancy, you need a pregnancy tests, you need ultrasounds, option counseling, we’re still offering all of those services, but also helping with material needs,” said Tyler.
The new women’s choice center will be open and available by May 15th.
The family medical practice will be up and running within 3 months after that.
