What Happened To Sean Dougherty? Death From Base Jump Accident And Obituary Notice

By Isabella Wilson

Sean Dougherty died on May 20, 2022, because of an accident during a base jump. If you don’t know what a base jump is, it’s an exciting activity where you jump with a parachute from a fixed point, usually a tall building or cape, instead of from an airplane.

Dougherty loved adventures from the time he could walk. It’s sad that he died doing what he loved most. Sean had a sense of adventure that no one else had. If he heard that a country had a big wave to surf, he would get on a plane that night, surf on Saturday, fly home on Sunday, and go back to work on Monday.

Accident at Sean Dougherty Base Jump

On May 20, 2022, Sean Dougherty died in an accident during a base jump. Over the course of seven years, he had done more than 400 base jumps. In addition, he has done more than 400 jumps while skydiving.

Dougherty was planning to jump from a 225-foot antenna in Columbus, New Jersey, in the United States, on May 20, 2022. When he left, the wind was going 1 mph, and he was calm about the trip from the start.

On that day, Sean was with his friend. His friend saw the accident and told Sean about it. The two were supposed to jump from the same spot, but Sean didn’t like being on the rail with his friend at the same time, so his friend jumped first and then Sean. Sean’s friend heard him yell while he was flying. At the same time, he heard the rail ring and Sean yell. A bad accident happened, and Sean was pronounced dead right away.

A friend of Sean’s said that Sean’s parachute was right under him. At the place where Sean died, his bridal and pilot chutes were wrapped around his leg and chest.

Notice of Death for Sean Dougherty

Sean’s death notice was put out by O’Leary Funeral Home Ltd. The message showed that Sean has had an adrenaline rush since he was a child and that he was determined to find adventure no matter what.

As soon as Sean could walk, he started to climb trees, climb mountains, surf the ocean, jump out of planes, and ride motorcycles. Because of his rush of adrenaline, he scared his parents to death. To say that Sean liked to try new things would be an understatement.

He never said no to a chance to do what he loved, and he didn’t care about money unless it gave him the chance to travel and help the people he cared about. The death notice said that Sean was “the man” who was always there to help anyone at any time.

Sean started Sharp Stream Power Washing & Painting ten years ago. With the help of his mother and a great team, he turned it into a million-dollar business. His earnings, on the other hand, would go a long way toward funding his exciting adventures. No one thought Sean would die doing the thing he loved the most, and his parents never thought their worst fear since they were kids would come true.

Sean’s parents threw a lunch party for him on May 25, 2022, at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
