Pundit wowed by Alexander Isak assist Newcastle vs Southampton
BBC pundit Glenn Murray has praised Alexander Isak for his sumptuous assist for Joelinton’s winner for Newcastle United in their 1-0 victory over Southampton in the 1st leg of the Carabao Cup.
The Swedish striker came on as a substitute for the Magpies and had the game-changing impact Eddie Howe intended him to have.
Alexander Isak spun past Duje Caleta-Car, and drove down the right flank before setting up an inch-perfect cutback for Joelinton, which led to the BBC pundit heaping praise on him for making the difference for Newcastle against Southampton.
The £120,000-a-week forward has stepped up big-time for the Magpies in recent weeks.
In perhaps one of the club’s most crucial games in recent years, Isak may have had a big say in them having one foot already in the Carabao Cup final.
Against Fulham as well, it was the 23-year-old who scored an 89th minute winner to ensure his side firmly remain in the Champions League spots.
Injuries have marred the former Real Sociedad’s time at St. James’ Park so far.
But as BBC pundit Glenn Murray, as well as the world witnessed, Alexander Isak is capable of special things, as he displayed for Newcastle against Southampton.
BBC pundit Glenn Murray raves about Alexander Isak assist for Newcastle vs Southampton
The former Brighton striker said on BBC Sport, “[Alexander] Isak leaves [Duje] Caleta-Car down the right, cuts into the box and puts a tantalising ball across for Joelinton, who smashes into the side netting. The Newcastle fans are going wild.”
Ultimately, the pundit is right in pointing out how unreal the assist provided for Alexander Isak was, as Newcastle narrowly beat Southampton.
While Joelinton deserves a boatload of credit for redeeming himself after missing a host of chances to bag the matchwinner, so does the creator of the massive goal on the night.
