Moline man sentenced to 25 years for producing, possessing, receiving child pornography

A man from Moline has been sentenced to federal prison on charges related to child pornography, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

Jason Richard Heider, 48, was sentenced in federal court in Davenport on January 18 to 25 years in federal prison for producing, possessing and being in receipt of child pornography. According to both public court documents and evidence given at sentencing, he was responsible for producing and receiving child sexual abuse material, according to the release. Heider pleaded guilty in July 2022.

United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement and the Davenport Police Department investigated the case. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative that combats child sexual exploitation and abuse that was launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Project Safe Childhood is led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section and uses federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute those who exploit children online, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
