Modder Edward Zarick Creates Xbox One, PS4 Hybrid Called the XStation

Xbox and PlayStation fanboys have been arguing about who’s console are better for what feels like a lifetime. But what if the rival consoles were one in the same? Modder Edward Zarick has made that thought a reality, modding a Xbox One and PS4 together to create the Xstation.
In a blog post his site Eds Junk, Zarick showed off the machine and detailed the reason behind creating it.
I started this project about 2 weeks ago with the idea in mind that I wanted to have both of my home gaming consoles put into one housing. I was not sure how I was going to accomplish it, but I went ahead and tore apart both of my systems and started playing what felt like a puzzle on how I could fit all the parts together inside the smallest case possible. After I got the right idea of how I waned it laid out, I went to cutting acrylic and ordering parts. After about 2 weeks and some problem solving, the Xstation was born!
The modder goes on to detail that after the two weeks of hard work, he was able to fit both systems into a case around the same size as the original Gen 1 Xbox One. Instead of having external power supplies, the Xstation is powered internally.
Regarding how the console switches between the two, Zarick showed off his 2×1 HDMI switch controlled by an Arduino, which also controls the LEDs and relay inside the console. Switching between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is literally as simple as pushing a button. For those worried about power output, he reassured that power is only provided two one system at a time.
Zarick goes into much more detail in the video listed above, even demonstrating switching between the systems and the Xstations menu interface. Unfortunately for the public, it doesn’t look like the mod isn’t likely to be a part of the next console generation.
