Young bike riders will be safer thanks to the Iowa Quad Cities Rotary Club.
Each year the club provides bicycle safety training to 2nd graders in Bettendorf. The program is called “Lids for kids” and besides learning about safety each child also receives a helmet. A member of the rotary club says they try to keep the lessons simple.
“Its on the importance of taking care of your head. The importance of making sure you are safe when you’re riding a bicycle, the importance of just paying attention in the street,” said Tim Perkins from the Iowa Quad Cities Rotary Club.
This year students at Davenport’s McKinley School were also part of the program.
