Flacco’s effectiveness began to wane in the late 2010s, and he was eventually transferred to the Denver Broncos in 2019 after a hip injury cost him his place to Lamar Jackson. Having suffered a neck injury in eight games during the 2019 season, he was released by the Broncos after the team decided to start replacing Drew Lock. He then joined the New York Jets as backup for Sam Darnold before becoming a starter. Flacco has the most career pitches and touches of any quarterback who hasn’t attended the Pro Bowl since the 2021 NFL season. Flacco is also credited for having one of the NFL’s strongest arms.

Flacco redshirted as a freshman with the Pittsburgh Panthers, which ended that season 8-5. In 2005, Flacco transferred to the University of Delaware, but he did not qualify for that season. In his first full-time season, he threw 2,783 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Flacco cemented his place as the top 5 quarterbacks in the 2008 NFL Draft with strong performances at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine.
