Jerry Jones was born on October 13, 1942 in Los Angeles, California and started playing soccer while in high school at North Little Rock High School.

He attended the University of Arkansas after graduating from high school and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.

In the 1964 National Football Championship, he was one of the captains of his stellar college football career. Coach Frank Broyles also assigned him to attack. He has worked alongside Jimmy Johnson, Ken Hatfield, Glen Ray Hines, Jim Lindsey and Loyd Phillips.

Jones is said to have borrowed a million dollars from Jimmy Hoffa’s Teamsters association after graduating from college in 1965 to start a pizza restaurant chain in Missouri. However, this venture failed and he was hired by his father’s company.
