Is there garbage pickup on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2022?

The Christmas season of 2022 is finally here and we take a look at whether the essential service of garbage pickup will be available on Christmas eve and day in the United States.
Christmas is the favorite time of the year for many. The holiday commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. It also marks a period of resting and relaxing for those who toil hard year-round.
Families come together to share the joy and welcome the new year together. Many convenience and retail stores, as well as banks, remain closed on the day.
Is there garbage pickup on Christmas Eve 2022?
The answer is yes in some states but no in others – the garbage collection schedule differs from state to state.
The Texas Disposal Systems, which generally operates on Christmas Eve, won’t be collecting trash on December 24 this year as it falls on a Saturday.
In Florida’s Citrus County, the landfill is open until 2:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Orland City observes Christmas eve as a holiday, hence there will be no pickup.
Greenbay city of Wisconsin notes on its website that it considers Christmas Eve as a half-day holiday. If the half-day holiday falls on a regular workday, garbage collection will remain on the normal schedule.
Most places will have a regular collection on Christmas Eve if the county/city’s collection day is a Saturday. It’s important to remember that Christmas Eve is not a federal holiday. However, some observe it as a half day, hence timings may differ.
Is there garbage pickup on Christmas day 2022?
In most states, there will be no garbage pickup on Christmas day.
Indy.gov notes that in Indianapolis, garbage pickup will be delayed by one day on Christmas Day as it’s observed as a holiday.
Maryland’s Anne Arundel county also notes that curbside pickup will be affected on Christmas. Orlando City and North Carolina’s Atlantic Beach county both won’t have garbage pickup on Christmas day.
In Chicago, Garbage pickup is not scheduled on Christmas Day. The city is observing the holiday on December 26 as the 25th is a Sunday. Hence there won’t be pick-ups on both Sunday and Monday.
The New York City government also recognizes Christmas Day as a holiday. residents can follow their social media accounts to get details of the schedule changes.

Post Offices will be closed on Christmas Day
Post offices will remain closed on Christmas Day. The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail or packages on December 25 and 26.
FedEx also lists Christmas as a company holiday. Hence almost all shipping services are closed. The only exception to this is FedEx Custom Critical.
