If they have a star next to their name, it means they are a Snapchat Plus user. One of the features of Snapchat Plus is that users will have a badge displayed on their profile.

This differentiates them from others while also giving them a couple of new features that are not available for everyday Snapchat users.

Snapchat Plus consists of exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features that can be purchased for $3.99 USD a month.

Users will enjoy features such as the story rewatch indicator. This tells the user how many times the story has been rewatched by others. However, it is important to note the number next to the eye emoji does not represent the number of times the story has been rewatched by an individual. Instead, it denotes the total number of friends who have rewatched it.

At the same time, it has ghost trails on the map. This is a function that allows you to see where your friends have been in the last 24 hours. This will only be available if it has been activated by the other user.
