How to Find (& Use) The Mystical Heirloom in God of War: Ragnarök

One curious item that many might have deemed useless during their adventure in God of War: Ragnarok is the Mystical Heirloom, a Relic that explicitly states that it “doesn’t seem to have any practical application in combat.” When activated, this Relic causes Kratos to let a warcry while banging the item against his wristguard. Many fans will likely have dismissed this item as some sort of easter egg or keepsake that perhaps was connected to some post-game content. Conversely, there might have been those who diligently sought out every hidden-entrance-looking location, only to be disappointed that nothing came from their search.

The hidden use of the Mystical Heirloom in God of War: Ragnarok lies in its description, which can be viewed via the Relic menu: “Awakens something dormant, deep down inside of the bearer.” In other words, this Relic is not meant to open some hidden entrance or access a secret location. Instead, it is used as an initiator, capable of triggering a miniboss fight with five specific enemies across the Realms. These enemies include a Dragon called The Everlasting and four Trolls: Blodugr Steinn, Bjarg Stormr, Golrab of the Ashes, and Golrab of the Frost.

How to Use The Mystical Heirloom

The Mystical Heirloom’s first Troll in God of War: Ragnarok is Blodugr Steinn, who can be found in The Derelict Outpost of Midgard, west of The Lost Treasury. Near the entrance of these ruins, players will encounter a tall statue-like figure holding a pillar. Activating the Relic in God of War: Ragnarok near the Troll will awaken the beast from its slumber, initiating a boss fight. After defeating this enemy, players can move on to the second Troll, Bjarg Stormr, located in the westernmost corner of The Forbidden Sands in Alfheim. Finally, Golrab of the Ashes and Frost is a Troll pair that can be found near the Boat Docks of Noatun’s Garden in Vanaheim. As for The Everlasting, players can awaken this enemy by the dock of Dragon’s Beach in Svartalfheim.

Where to Find the Mystical Heirloom

The minibosses that the Mystical Heirloom can awaken in God of War: Ragnarok drop highly valuable loot, including crafting materials, unique gear, and even Enchantments. However, some players might not have discovered this unique Relic during their journey. Fortunately, YouTuber Djisso has revealed that finding it is an almost effortless process. After unlocking the Draupnir Spear, investigate a breakable wall in Midgard, southwest of Tyr’s Temple in God of War: Ragnarok. Next, use the spear to detonate the stone and examine the corpse lying in the snow to the left. The Mystical Heirloom will be on the ground beside the body in God of War: Ragnarok.
