Florida county commissioner Joe Mullins can be heard on video declaring, “I rule the county,” after being stopped for speeding.

By Christopher Ramos

Florida Highway Patrol officers stopped Flagler County commissioner Joe Mullins for speeding a second time on June 19, 2022. The commissioner is seen in freshly leaked video exploiting his authority to escape the circumstance.

Joe Mullins, who is operating a red Ferrari, can be seen being stopped by law enforcement in a video that was made public by the Daytona Beach News Journal. Mullins was cited for speeding. The police report states that the commissioner was driving a 2013 Ferrari convertible sports car at 92 mph in a 70 mph zone.

But the county commissioner’s response to exceeding the speed limit was anything but remorseful. Mullins may be seen interrupting the trooper on the dashcam video and saying: I oversee the county.

Joe Mullins is who? County people accuse the commissioner of damaging the county’s reputation

Flagler County Commissioner Joe Mullins has had prior run-ins with the law. Troopers in a Mercedes-Benz SUV previously stopped him for travelling 89 mph in a 60 mph zone on Interstate 4. According to accounts, he had already attempted to flee by using his name.

The Daytona Beach News Journal was able to obtain video showing troopers debating the commissioner’s actions. A trooper can be heard saying, “He said he was a county commissioner,” to which another responds that he is still receiving a ticket. The troopers allegedly also threatened to have him arrested, to which Joe Mullins responded:

“…if I arrested him for disobeying a legal order, it would be a career-ending act.”
The police have also stated in the reports that the commissioner “flashed his business card” in an effort to obtain an exemption. They identified Mullins’ actions as:

“very disrespectful, aggressive, irrational, and arrogant.”
Mullins has requested mercy in response to the reports by claiming that he was rushing and had forgotten the posted speed restriction.

The commissioner’s frequent requests for exemption have drawn criticism online, with individuals citing the occurrences as justifications for not voting for him again. His actions as a county official are being perceived as harming the county’s usually calm reputation.

Flagler County should not be represented by Joe Mullins. Any representative from Flagler County that spoke with FL Troopers and Seminole DEPUTIES in such a confrontational and disrespectful manner should not be in their job. This

I’m not sure what party he represents, but the district he represents needs to find a different candidate.

The 51-year-old commissioner is described as a successful entrepreneur and the founder and president of The Mullins Companies in online candidate reports. He belongs to the Italian-American Club of Palm Coast, the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce, the Flagler County Republican Executive Committee, and the Rotary Club of Flagler County. He had run for the District 4 position on the Flagler County Commission.
