Elden Ring’s Best Rune Farming Locations In Each Region

Runes are the core of Elden Ring, giving Tarnished players the strength they need to carry out their quest for the Elden Ring. Like Dark Souls’ Souls and Bloodborne’s Blood Echoes, Elden Ring’s Runes allow players to level up and take on the toughest enemies in the Lands Between. Fortunately for the Tarnished, there are some great Rune farming locations and techniques in every area of the map that makes leveling up easy no matter what level they’re at.

There are five major areas that players can explore in Elden Ring’s open world, though some are much more difficult to traverse than others. After starting the game in Limgrave, players can venture to Liurnia, Caelid, Altus Plateau, and the Mountaintops of the Giants throughout their journey. As players progress through the game, the enemies will get harder and harder to beat, but they’ll also drop a lot more Runes than the weaker enemies that appear early on.

Elden Ring players can visit any of the many Sites of Grace to channel their Runes and level up. However, Runes are also required to purchase crucial items like materials, armor, cookbooks, and upgrades. Needless to say, Elden Ring players will always be in need of more Runes, but luckily, there are plenty of places to farm a ton of them in a short amount of time.

Elden Ring – Best Limgrave Rune Farming Location

Limgrave is the first area of the Lands Between that Elden Ring players can explore, and there’s a great early-game Rune farming location just south of the Warmaster’s Shack Site of Grace. There are five giant trolls wandering around this area that each drop 1,000 Runes, and while they can be a challenge to kill at first, there’s a trick to beating them that makes farming them much easier. If players aim for the trolls’ legs and cause them to fall, they’ll be able to directly attack the troll’s face for a critical hit.

Additionally, the trolls’ attacks will damage nearby enemies – including other trolls – so players can lure them together to get them to weaken each other. Defeating a troll will usually replenish the player’s flasks, so they can also be effectively farmed if players prefer to take them on one at a time. Each run will reward players with around 5,000 Runes, which makes it relatively easy to earn over 50,000 Runes per hour early on in the game.

Where To Farm Runes Passively In Elden Ring’s Liurnia of the Lakes

Another of Elden Ring’s best early-game Rune farms is in Liurnia of the Lakes. Unlike the Limgrave location, however, players don’t actually have to fight any enemies to rake in the Runes. Just north of the Liurnia Highway North Site of Grace, there’s a group of enemies fighting each other on the main road. If players are close enough to the group, they’ll earn Runes each time one of the enemies falls in battle, so they can let the battle play out to farm Runes without having to engage in combat themselves. Running through the group will also spawn a ghostly giant that can deal massive amounts of damage to the surrounding enemies, which can make this passive Rune farm even more efficient.

Elden Ring’s Caelid Region Has The Best Rune Farms

Caelid is one of the most popular Elden Ring regions for farming Runes, and there are several great farming locations that make leveling a breeze. However, the best area for farming can actually be reached early on in the game before players have even begun to explore this rot-soaked area. Just south of the Bestial Sanctum, there’s a field full of small, agile enemies that each drop around 1,000 Runes. This field is also extremely close to the Farum Greatbridge Site of Grace, which makes it easy to rest and reset the area for fast Rune farming.

The enemies can deal a lot of damage, but they’re easy to stun and kill with quick, repetitive attacks, and they’re typically far enough apart that players won’t have to fight more than one or two at once. To get to this location early in the game, players can take the portal at the east end of the river behind the Third Church of Marika, which will transport them directly to the Bestial Sanctum. After running south past the boss, the farming location will be just off the main road.

In addition to this early-game Rune farming location, Elden Ring’s Caelid region has another excellent late-game farming area once players make it to Mohgwynn Palace. From the ledge near the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace, players can shoot the massive crow on the cliff below with a bow and arrow. Shooting the crow will cause it to charge towards the player and directly off the cliff, killing it instantly. Each time the crow falls, however, players are rewarded with over 10,000 Runes. Since the location is practically on top of a Site of Grace, players can earn hundreds of thousands of Runes in less than an hour, making this farm one of the easiest and most efficient Rune farms in the entire game.

Elden Ring – Where To Farm Runes In Altus Plateau

Once Elden Ring players find both halves of the Dectus Medallion and reach Altus Plateau, they’ll find one of the best mid-game Rune farms on the main road southwest of the Iniquity Side Path Site of Grace. There’s a caravan guarded by several torch-bearing enemies that drop about 400 Runes each, as well as a few trolls and a Mad Pumpkin Head that drop around 1,000. Clearing the caravan will earn players between 15,000 and 20,000 Runes, and since the farming location is so close to the Site of Grace, players can easily earn over 150,000 Runes per hour here.

Best Rune Farming Location In Elden Ring’s Mountaintops of the Giants

Elden Ring players who want to take a break from the fighting late in the game will find a passive Rune farming location directly next to the Foot of the Forge Site of Grace in the Mountaintops of the Giants region. Just a few yards north of the Site of Grace, there’s a large bird on the ground beneath one of the giant statues. As players approach it, an enormous Spider Hand enemy will drop, crushing the bird and killing it instantly.

Instead of fighting the Spider Hand itself, players can simply run back to the Site of Grace and rest to respawn the bird, which drops around 2,000 Runes each time it’s killed. This method only takes a few seconds per run, making this location one of the easiest places to farm Runes in the late-game of Elden Ring.
