EA and Coldwood Announce Unravel

EA has just announced that they will be releasing a game called Unravel. The game appears to introduce an original concept, centered on a character made of yarn. The game is being made by physics-based platformer from Swedish developer Coldwood Interactive.

The games premise seems to be a small character facing big challenges in an intimidating world. The character appears to use yarn as it traverses across various terrains, and seasons. The game is visually stunning, and the idea that players face big challenges as a small character, while using simple solutions, makes for a very compelling game. It also appears that the game will be marketable for diverse audiences, from children to adults.

What is interesting is that the game was developed (idea wise) during a visit to the country side. The creator, Martin Sahlin, decided that yarn(thread) would be the main mechanic in the game by exploring the woods, and searching for ways to create an innovative game. He seems to have invested much of his heart into the game, so it will be exciting to see it come to fruition for the international market.
