Dean Goedken Accident: On Saturday, September 16, 2023, Dean A. Goedken, a longtime resident of Winthrop, Iowa, passed away. Dean was 62 years old when he passed away in an agricultural accident close to Garnavillo. “I knew you for such a short time. You accepted me into the family even if I was a city boy and a Cardinals fan. I promised the day you let me marry your daughter to take care of her. I will uphold that promise until you two are reunited.  Auf Wiedersehen, herr Goedken.”

Who was Dean Goedken?

Dean Allen Goedken was born in Manchester, Iowa, on March 23, 1961, the second youngest of the thirteen children of Arthur Clarence and Edna Mae (Fisher) Goedken.

Just south of Lamont, he was raised on a dairy cattle farm. In 1979, he graduated from Starmont Community Schools. When he was younger, he spent a lot of time assisting the family farm as well as his neighbors. On June 7, 1986, he married Nancy Adams.
