Danielle Redlick is charged with the murder of ex-husband Michael Redlick in 2019. The opening of the case begins on Wednesday, June 8, while jury selection begins on Monday, June 6. According to authorities, the murder weapon used to kill Michael Redlick was a kitchen knife. According to WFTV, Michael married Danielle’s mother Kathleen Aquino to help her get better medical care after Aquino was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, he falls in love with Danielle, Aquino’s daughter, 20 years younger than him.

According to their neighbors, the couple did not have a pleasant married life and often quarreled. However, they have been married for 17 years and have two children. Michael is said to have written an email to a friend before his death, saying,

Danielle told detectives that Michael allegedly stole a 1/4 pounder coin from McDonald’s that she was eating. He bit her and spat in her face. She said she took a kitchen knife in self-defense, but Michael snatched it from her hand and used it to stab himself. Danielle Redlick then locked herself in the bathroom as her husband sobbed.

Danielle Redlick justified her decision not to call the police earlier by claiming that she was on probation. When police arrived at her home, they smelled bleach and found blood-soaked towels next to a bucket of pink liquid. At the time of the incident, the couple’s two children were not at home. According to the arrest affidavit, Danielle cut her wrist before dialing 911, but the cut was not too deep because she was no longer bleeding when police arrived. Danielle was jailed for a year after Michael’s murder for allegedly assaulting two police chiefs while intoxicated.
