Bonnie Lai Obituary-Death; Former Hong Kong Actress Bonnie Lai Passes Away At 46

By William Rodriguez

Bonnie Lai Suk-yin, a former actress from Hong Kong, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 26, at the age of 46, according to her ex-husband Kenneth Low.

According to media in Hong Kong, the former beauty queen’s son discovered her unconscious at home and took her to the hospital, where she was later declared dead.

After they split up in 2006, Lai’s first husband, Hong Kong star Low, subsequently confirmed her passing.

After placing second in the Miss Asia 1995 beauty contest, Lai had her big break in the entertainment industry in 1995. Later, in 1996, she starred in films including Young and Dangerous 3 and Vampire Expert II.

The true cause of her death is unknown because authorities did not discover a suicide note at the scene, according to Oriental News Daily. But because the celebrity had been battling serious depression for 20 years and would frequently seek psychiatric care, it was thought that she had committed herself. She seemed good when she was last spotted on Christmas Day at a barbeque party.

The next day, her wife sent a text message to her present husband, Dr. Angus Hui, stating that they will cross paths again in the hereafter. He found her unconscious in their bedroom and hurried home to report the incident and send her to the hospital.

It was stated that two weeks before to her passing, Bonnie spoke with her former spouse and discussed their sons. She was reported to have sounded collected and unperturbed over the phone.

Lai had two boys after marrying Low in 1998. After the divorce in 2006, she married cosmetic surgeon Angus Hui in 2007 and they had two sons together.
