Who Was The Woman Massimo Watched On The Beach In Netflix's 365 Days?
The woman that Massimo admires on the beach is Laura (Anna-Maria Sieklucka)! Even though his father meets a brutal end, Massimo never forgets the face of the woman he admired on the beach and he becomes convinced that she's his one true love.
After Massimo recovers from being shot, he becomes obsessed with finding Laura. He even has paintings of her commissioned from memory to hang in his house for years before they even meet in person. After Massimo starts holding Laura captive, he explains that he's been searching for her ever since he saw her on the beach, and this is where the central plot picks up. Even though Massimo pledges not to touch her until she gives him permission, he does so continuously throughout the film without her consent. While it's supposed to be titillating and romantic, it's no wonder that "365 Days" received some major backlash for romanticizing kidnapping, harassment, and domestic violence.
Massimo and Laura never discuss their brief, one-sided interaction on the beach. It almost seems like Massimo was just imagining Laura before he was shot — a theory that's only refuted when Massimo's father takes a look at her through the binoculars as well. There are currently two sequels in development at Netflix (per Deadline), so it's possible that viewers will learn more about that scene from Laura's perspective in the next movie.
