To get a toy for his son, he waited for Christmas Eve. His wife, played by Rita Wilson, asked him weeks before to secure a toy for Jamie, their son played by Jake Lloyd.

To get the turbo man (gift for his son), he stands in a line, but alongside him, there is Myron and Ted, the neighbor. What happens next is something that can only happen in the mid-90s.

Howard soon learns that the toy has sold out. He embarks on a mad adventure to get the toy his son desires. He must compete with many obstacles, which will cause mayhem for him and fun for the audience.

The movie got mixed reviews, but it was still successful at the box office, and it is still a very popular holiday movie.

The Christmas aura that we see in the movie surrounds the Palace Theatre, which is still decked to share the festivities.

As the movie moves forward, Howie visits the Mall of America. A few of the mall scenes were built around a rotunda, giving the illusion of escalators in the mall.

Today, the Nickelodeon universe was Camp Snoopy with the loved Yellow Eagle ride in the background.

Nicollet Island Pavilion

Howie meets Santa is played by Jim Belushi. The Santa convinces Howie to follow him to a secret location. This location is Nicollet Island Pavilion in today’s time.

This scene is also famous because it is the only time when Arnold and Jim have shared screen time in their extensive careers.

Mickey’s Diner, St. Paul

Dejected that he has not managed to acquire the asked gift for his son, he arrives at Mickey’s Dining Car, which has been a staple for every movie that has ever been filmed in Minnesota.

360 Wabasha St.

Howie learns that KQ92 is giving away Turbo Man to someone who can name all eight reindeer on the phone. Unable to get a call, Howie rushes to St. Paul towards the location of the KQ92 studio at 360 Wabasha.

Linden Hills

Linden Hills is the honorable mention on the list. It makes a small cameo in the movie.

The movie ends with Wintertainment Parade, but it was not shot in Minnesota, and I’m not going to reveal the filming spot as it will be a spoiler. The movie has been a mega Christmas movie for everyone, especially the people of Minnesota.
