What is the ‘can I pet that dog’ TikTok?
The ‘can I pet that dog’ TikTok was originally posted by a user called @kayholleyy on October 2nd 2019, and it became a firm favourite amongst viewers.
The video, which gained millions of views and went viral on social media, shows an adorable little boy asking to pet his new dog before he goes to bed. He repeatedly asks “can I pet that dog”, getting louder and louder every time he says it.
Later videos revealed that they had adopted a Yorkie a few days before, but mother Kayla didn’t want to let the dog near her son for a few days because the rescue dog was a little anxious. That’s why he was so desperate to pet the dog in the video.

The ‘can I pet that dog’ video gets deleted following hate
On August 15th 2020, @kayholleyy deleted all of the videos from her 350,000 follower account and announced that she would be leaving TikTok. When you visit her profile, the bio now reads: “Our TikTok journey has come to an end. Sorry. Much love.”

She said: “Those are my sweet innocent son’s videos. I wanted to share his love and light and personality with the world because he is so pure and full of personality. But the recent messages and comments were getting increasingly more negative and hateful.”
@kayholleyy had been receiving lots of nasty messages about her son, mocking his accent and insulting him in horrific ways. Therefore, whilst there are copies of the video on YouTube and social media, all of the videos have been deleted from TikTok.
