Episode 2 is going to be “What If… Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?”. We get a scene of Thor, which seems like it’s from the 1980s Avengers episode, where they wind up fighting Peter Quill and his father’s ego, the Living Planet. But it’s a younger version of Peter Quill who winds up joining him and using their power to try and eventually take over the planet and the universe.

Just like Hella, part of the idea with Thor is that because he’s Asgardian, he’s like 1500 years old during the events of the modern Marvel movies. Maybe he is just a couple of years old with that because a couple of years have gone by since then, but he’s over 1500 years old.

So they’re doing the 1980s version of the Avengers. It is like what the Avengers form is, but in the 1980s, Thor would essentially look the exact same, and not that much time would have gone by for him.

In reality, during the 1980s, Thor was busy going on adventures with Loki, the Warriors Three, and his father and was just basically having fun out amongst the nine realms.

What If Season 2 Spoilers

Before diving into What If Season 2 Episode 2, let’s quickly recap the previous episode. The first episode was “What if Nebula joined the Nova Corps?” And that’s sort of like an alternate history where Thanos winds up being deposed earlier in the timeline by Ronan, the accuser.

I’m not really sure how he winds up doing that. But because of that, Nebula wants to get out from under Thanos’ shadow. So, she winds up being recruited to the Nova Corps. And you can actually see in the episode she’s wearing Yondu’s fin. That episode is meant to be more of a dark noir Blade Runner crime thriller kind of episode.

In the trailer, we get a scene of Gamora from that Iron Man episode that was supposed to happen during season one, where Iron Man got stuck on Sakar instead of Thor during the events of Thor Ragnarok. So he winds up fighting in the contest of champions. But their version of the contest of champions is sort of like a junker race, kind of like wacky races.

Because Iron Man’s whole thing is that he loves to race cars, they just wait to build a bunch of Mad Max-style junker cars. He builds the junker version of the Iron Man Hulkbuster armor, the junk buster, basically. I think that Marvel actually sold toys for that in real life, or if they haven’t, they will eventually.

We get a scene from Iron Man, which is from “What if Happy Hogan Save Christmas,” which is basically like a die-hard story. Here, Happy Hogan has to save the Avengers tower because Justin Hammer comes back and starts stealing Iron Man’s armor and basically takes over all their stuff. It is sort of a version of Iron Man armor wars from the comics. So this is like Jon Favreau doing all this happy Hogan-saving Christmas stuff.

Obviously, Sam Rockwell is coming back to voice Justin Hammer. I know a lot of people hoping that he comes back for the live-action version of the Armor Wars movie that they’re now doing. Instead of a series, they’re doing Armor Wars as the movie at some point during Phase Six. A lot more happened in previous episodes, but now let’s discuss when Episode 2 of What If Season 2 will be released and what will happen in it.

What if Season 2 Episode 2 is released on 23 December 2023 on Disney Plus? This Episode is titled “What If… Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?”. At the time of writing, 9 episodes are scheduled for this second season of What If, and we think there will be only 9 episodes like the previous season.
