The Venture Bros. Movie - What We Know So Far

With "The Venture Bros." movie announcement, Adult Swim provided the following synopsis: "Doc's latest invention will either bankrupt the Ventures or launch them to new heights, as Hank searches for himself, Dean searches for Hank, The Monarch searches for answers, and a mysterious woman from their pasts threatens to bring their entire world crashing down on them" (via Collider).

Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer told NPR that they had written the Season 7 finale with the knowledge that they were getting an eighth season, but it was canceled while they were writing the scripts. So the Season 7 ending — with Hank Venture leaving the family — was never meant to be the end of the show.

"We would never end the show with one of our characters going away," Hammer said. "We have a character walking away from the Venture family, which is not the way Jackson and I think of the Ventures. There is love and family at the core of all this, and yes [it's] dysfunctional... but love and family is a deep part of our show. And to have somebody flip his gears and just go off in search for himself... that's not the kind of ending we would ever write. That doesn't feel good to me."

So, according to the synopsis, the movie is going to pick up after the events of Season 7 and hopefully wrap up the series in a way that's satisfying to both its creators and its fans.
