The Stranger Things Fan Theory That Will Have You Looking Twice At Robin

By Daniel Kim

In one Reddit post, u/Animestrangerthings revealed that they believe Robin Buckley could secretly be a Russian spy in "Stranger Things." The Redditor listed a number of reasons explaining why they believe that's the case, including the fact that, outside of one arcade and video store employee, no one in the show seems to remember Robin from school. The Redditor also notes that very little has actually been revealed about Robin's past and argues that she learned how to translate the Russian code that was intercepted in the Starcourt Mall a little too quickly to be believable.

In the same post, the user speculates that the Russians may have intentionally hurt Robin when she and Steve were captured in "Stranger Things 3" in order to make it easier for Steve to trust her. Ultimately, the Redditor argues that there's a real chance Robin was secretly planted in Hawkins by the Russian government and tasked with uncovering information about the Upside Down and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown).

Fortunately for this "Stranger Things" fan, they're not the only person who seems to like the theory. In an interview with Vanity Fair, several members of the "Stranger Things" cast, including Maya Hawke and Joe Keery, came together to discuss some of the most popular fan theories about the show. During the video, u/Animestrangerthings' theory about Robin's possible Russian ties was addressed and Hawke even said, "I like the idea." In the same interview, Joseph Quinn also echoed Hawke's opinion about the theory.

In other words, it turns out that certain members of the "Stranger Things" cast even find the idea of Robin being a Russian spy interesting. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the theory itself is correct.
