The good the bad and the ugly

By Daniel Kim
Hi all. I have seen several posts where people record their journey with regard to living with a partner who has this ugly disease. I think that would be very helpful for me also and that is why I gave title it the good the bad and the ugly. This disease is so awful but there are good bits mixed in with the bad. So here goes....

Having had a really good week with my OH mostly knowing and seeing me as his wife and without any confusion as to where he is during the evenings, tonight things have changed. He has forgotten how to get to the bedroom, where the stairs are and has said that we have a kitchen upstairs. He has asked me if I live close by and asked how we will get the dogs home later. We only have one dog. I tell him that we are in our house and that we don't have to go anywhere with the dog but his confusion remains.

When this happens I suggest we go up to bed and normally he settles once his trazadone kicks in.. which is what has happened tonight. Just before going to sleep he said he was so sorry that he gets so confused and can't remember things. I feel so sorry and so sad for him. It must be so frightening.

Well tomorrow is another day so I will hope for a good one again. His Neurologist is adding another medication to go alongside the Donepizil so fingers crossed it will help.
