Size 20 British model hits back after Tess Holliday slammed plus-size stars who describe themselves as 'curvy'

By Isabella Wilson

A BRITISH plus-sized model has slammed Tess Holliday for saying larger women shouldn't describe themselves as "curvy".

Size 20 Felicity Hayward was enraged by Tess' comments in a recent interview that plus-size models seem to ditch the term after becoming famous - and being referred to as 'curvy' is insulting.

The 32-year-old American model told Paper magazine: "If someone googles 'model' they're going to see Bella Hadid, or Gigi. If they google 'plus-size model' they're going to see me.

"I think it's incredibly frustrating that all these women capitalise off a marginalised group and when they become famous they are too good for it.

"How can you build your career from taking money from plus-size women and then turn around and say the term's not good enough for you?

"I don't want to be called 'curvy sexy-licious,' that's ridiculous. It's insulting! We can't even be who we are.

"I get the whole 'not being into labels,' but it's for a plus-size woman being like 'I'm plus-size, she's plus-size, I'm fat, she's fat.' It's not a hate-term, it's how I describe my body."

Felicity was less than impressed with size 22 Tess' standpoint on being called "curvy" and spoke to the Mail Online about why she prefers that particular term - and why it's vital people are allowed to choose how to describe themselves.

She said: "'The difficulty with it is plus-size models start from a size 10 to 12.

"And the average size woman in the UK is a size 16, that’s why a lot of models don’t like to use the term plus size because they are a size 12, they’re not really above average. This is where the taboo comes [from].

"I’m so bored having to fight for plus size when really we should be fighting together.

"There are a lot of girls that have hashtags that are specifically for curvy women, and I understand that I do, I’m not saying that the term is bad - but there are so many girl gangs going on a the moment and everyone just needs to support each other.

"You should love yourself and know your worth as a person rather than any labels or any flaws. I personally think that society creates flaws to benefit on our insecurities, and that’s when you start to get messiness over what’s good and what’s not."

Felicity was scouted during a night out in London and went on to star in Simply Be's size inclusive fashion show with Tess.

This summer Tess posed in a pair of see-through knickers to tell the world that 'fat people have sex too'.

And she shared a VERY busty selfie to pay tribute to other people who don't have perky boobs.
