Sci-Fi Cat Game Stray Gameplay Showcases Life As A Cat Among Robots

By Christopher Ramos

Stray, the sci-fi action cat game coming to PS5 next year, got its first gameplay trailer during the first Annapurna Interactive Showcase live stream today. Annapurna Interactive publishes a wide and diverse arrangement of different games from a plethora of game studios. One of the most anticipated games for the showcase was Stray, which debuted during the PS5 Showcase last year.

Game producer Swann at BlueTwelve Studios gave commentary during the video, explaining the premise of the game and what players can expect. Taking control of a lost cat, players will have to help an orange tabby navigate a strange city filled with humanoid robots and find its family. The cat will have help from B12, a helper drone that communicates with the different androids within the city.

Exploration and puzzle-solving as a cat look to be the main components of the game Stray, but it’s not the only component. Players will be able to interact with the environment and the androids in ways expected of a cat. Actions include rubbing against the legs of androids, scratching up furniture, and taking cat naps. The cat will also be involved in combat scenarios.

Strange and hostile creatures reside in the rundown city. Certain areas are dangerous and require the cat to think quickly to avoid being harmed. The trailer shows the cat running away but also using its environment to escape its enemies. Later in the trailer, the cat gets the ability to fight back with a special light in its backpack. There may be more upgrades to diversify the gameplay further.

Stray‘s initial release date was in 2021. However, like many other games this year, it’s been delayed until early 2022. Stray will be released as a console exclusive on PS4 and PS5 as well as PC through Steam.
