Reginald Tolbert Obituary – Death: 51-Year-Old Man, Reginald Tolbert Shot and Killed in Fatal Shooting at Birmingham’s Smithfield Neighborhood

Reginald Tolbert Death: Birmingham’s Smithfield neighbourhood grapples with a shooting incident, as authorities have charged a 19-year-old individual in connection with the tragic killing of a man.

On Saturday, law enforcement officials disclosed the apprehension of Michael Bruce Holly, who now faces a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of 51-year-old Reginald Tolbert.

The harrowing incident transpired at 6:45 p.m. within the vicinity of the 300 block of Second Avenue North.

Sergeant LaQuitta Wade revealed that police officers swiftly responded to the scene, discovering Tolbert in an unresponsive state inside an abandoned structure. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service immediately transported him to UAB Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him deceased at 7:59 p.m.

Sgt. Wade went on to disclose that Tolbert and Holly were acquainted, and it was during this unfortunate encounter that Holly engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim. The altercation took a grim turn as Holly discharged a firearm, resulting in the tragic demise of Tolbert, before he promptly absconded from the scene.

What Happened to Reginald Tolbert?

Reginald Tolbert was shot and killed on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in the 300 Block of 2nd Avenue North.

A patrol officer on the scene provided a description of the suspect; responding patrol officers were able to quickly take Michael Holly into custody near the scene of the shooting.

Michael Holly has been charged with murder.

He is in the Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.
