Om Shanti Om is a Hindi-language romantic fantasy film from 2007, written and directed by Farah Khan. It tells the story of Om Prakash Makhija, a young man who lives with his widowed mother Bela Makhija, and his friend Pappu Master in a small chawl in Mumbai. Om is an extra in Hindi films and is in love with Shantipriya, a popular film actress. He often expresses his love for her in front of her film poster and dreams of meeting her. One day, Om sneaks into the premiere of Shantipriya's film Dreamy Girl in disguise with Pappu. After a few drinks, Om shares his dream of becoming a great actor with Pappu. Both Om and Pappu act in small roles in films produced by Mukesh Mehra, a wealthy and famous film producer who owns R.C. Studios, a major filming compound. During a shoot, Shanti gets stuck in a fire, and Om bravely rescues her risking his life. Grateful Shanti becomes friends with Om, who lies about being a popular Tamil actor to impress her. Om finally confesses the truth to Shanti after realizing her affection for him. Shanti forgives Om, and they spend a pleasant evening together, with Shanti gifting Om a snow globe. However, Om accidentally overhears a conversation between Shanti and Mukesh, where he finds out that they have been secretly married for two years, and the news of their marriage will ruin both their careers. To make matters worse, Shanti reveals that she is pregnant with Mukesh's child, which breaks Om's heart. The rest of the story firms the film.
