New flea market setting up shop in Moline
A favorite Friday night market in Moline is expanding with a sister event on Sundays.
La Pulga (which means flea market) on Fifth had its grand opening Sunday, July 1 for a pilot season.
More than a dozen vendors filled part of Fifth Street in Moline to help kick off the flea market.
Organizers said the event is designed as a way to encourage business and social activity in the city.
La Pulga on Fifth intern Cali Milligan said, “Branched out from Mercado on Fifth to create a flea market, which provides an opportunity for not just businesses but also residents in the community to sell their product and make some cash and hopefully they’ll spend that back in the community.”
La Pulga will run every other Sunday through early August from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. weather depending.
The next opportunity to visit will be July 15.
It doesn’t cost anything to come, but it does cost vendors $5 and food trucks or stands $15.
People can register for a vendor spot at
Milligan said after the pilot season, they will decide on continuing the La Pulga flea market.
