Mega Man is Coming to Monster Hunter: World

By Daniel Kim

At the opening keynote of PSX 2017, Capcom released a new trailer for the new Monster Hunter: World. The new trailer boasted new environments, epic monster battles, and interactions with characters inside the world. However, the most surprising addition was a familiar face from Capcom’s past: Mega Man.

According to the trailer shown for Monster Hunter: World below, your faithful, feline companions, the Palicos,  can sport a Mega Man skin. The bright blue, 8-bit suit is an oddly adorable choice, and they took it one step further. Palicos sporting the suit can also eat sausages and consume energy tanks while the tunes from the classic Mega Man play in the background. That’s right; even the soundtrack is available!

However, the Mega Man crossover is not the first to come to Monster Hunter: World. At Paris Games Week, PlayStation announced that Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn will also be available as a playable character. Along with her bow and full armor set, Aloy comes with her own Palico skin, a small Watcher armor set.

Monster Hunter: World is having a beta test this weekend, December 9-12, 2017. It is free, and exclusive, to PlayStation Plus members and includes three different missions to try your hand in monster-fighting. There are a handful of weapons and armor sets to choose from in the beta so you can pick which works best for you!

Monster Hunter: World is set to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26th, 2018. A PC version is also in the works, but an official release date has yet to be announced. In other Capcom news, Mega Man 11 is set to release on consoles and PC sometime next year along with the Mega Man X remastered collection.
