Man driving ATV dies after crash on U.S. Highway 20 in Iowa

ROCKWELL CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — One person is dead after a crash on Highway 20 in Calhoun County.

According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, the crash took place Thursday around 3:33 p.m. in Calhoun County at the intersection of Highway 20 and Zearing Avenue, about 12 miles west of Fort Dodge.

Michael Leith, 84, of Manson, was driving an ATV north on Zearing Avenue. Leith failed to the right of way to a 2007 Ford Taurus going east on Highway 20, the report states. The Ford Taurus then hit the ATV with both vehicles coming to rest in the median.

Leith died as a result of the crash. The driver of the Ford Taurus was uninjured.

The Calhoun County Sheriff, Knierim Fire Department, the Calhoun County Medical Examiner, and the Iowa Department of Transportation assisted the Iowa State Patrol.
