Little Debbie is pulling all its snacks from Canada's shelves

By William Rodriguez

Little Debbie is closing up its bakery in Canada, making them the third brand in recent weeks to pull its goodies off shelves.

If you live in Canada and you spot any Little Debbie snacks, we suggest you stock up because McKee Foods is discontinuing its fan-favorite brand in the country for the foreseeable future.

The likes of Honey Buns and Cosmic Brownies will be no more, so you’ll have to take a trip down to the US. Devastated? You’re not the only one. Canadian Twitter users are mourning the loss particularly after two other snacks have been removed from shelves.

Why are Little Debbie snacks discontinued in Canada?

Little Debbie has not notified fans on its social media, but McKee Foods confirmed to CTV News that they will no longer distribute in Canada.

“This was not our decision,” a spokesperson told the news site. “The sole distributor in Canada chose to terminate their business relationship with our brands for reasons that are entirely their own.”

Unfortunately, the company is not actively searching for a new distributor.

Little Debbie fans sob over their snack loss

Money is no object for this fan:

“I live in Canada and have bought nothing but Little Debbie snacks for years,” they tweeted. “I can’t find anything that even comes close to being a good replacement. How can I get some Little Debbie’s? Please! I have no problem paying, I just need my Little Debbie!”

Christmas won’t be the same:

@LittleDebbie Why can’t I find any little Debbie products in store in Alberta Canada anymore ? 🙁 I can’t find another snack I enjoy! Nothing is the same as little Debbie’s oatmeal pie cookies , brownies , the Christmas cakes !

Bugles and Bagel Bites also booted from Canada

Little Debbie’s announcement comes weeks after both Bugles and Bagel Bites revealed their exit from the Canadian market.

Replying to puzzled fans on November 22, Bagel Bites explained: “We hate to be the bearer of bad news; at this time this product has been discontinued in Canada and there are no plans to bring it back.” No further information was provided.

General Mills-owned Bugles provided a similar response with no reason for the decision.

“Why are all the snacks leaving Canada? Justin Trudeau, what is your plan to bring Bagel Bites, Little Debbie, and Bugles back to Canada?”

One fan has gone as far as labeling the discontinuations as “a crime”.
