Kevin Harvick moves up to broadcast booth for new career

By Robert King

DAYTONA, Fla. (WGHP) — Kevin Harvick is beginning a new career by moving up to the broadcast booth.

He will be part of a different team this NASCAR season when he joins Clint Bowyer and Mike Joy in the Fox Broadcast booth.

And no surprise here, Harvick is going to be Harvick by saying what’s on his mind. He may even have to criticize a friend here and there.

“They all know me well enough to know that I’m going to shoot it straight and tell it like I see it,” Harvick said.

Harvick is not a broadcast rookie. He’s called about 30 races in the Xfinity and Truck series over the past eight years.

“Kevin is laser-focused. He’s a fountain of information, and the best thing he brings us is ‘I’ve just been there, and I’ve just done that,'” Joy said.

Harvick just finished up a 23-year Cup career that was highlighted by the 2014 championship and 60 Cup wins, including the 2007 Daytona 500.

He’s a guaranteed NASCAR Hall of Famer. Now in retirement, he may finally get to soak it all in.

“That’s one of the things I’m looking forward to the most is standing back and being able to look around and take it all in,” Harvick said. “It’s not something you do when you’re in the middle of driving the car.”
