He was the impetus behind the organization’s founding and expansion, turning it into a ray of hope for families dealing with childhood cancer.
John worked as the owner and operator of Golden Bear Travel, a high-end cruise travel company.
His life changed significantly in the 1970s when he started volunteering at Hospice of Marin.
This was the period when he became close to a patient by the name of Robert Sturhahn.
John vowed humbly to honor Robert’s memory by creating a program that would enhance the quality of life for children who are dealing with cancer because of their close relationship.
Motivated by his desire to make a positive impact, John embarked on a mission to provide support to children in Northern California with cancer.
