Jarret Clark Murder:  Anthony Wallen, Who Is He? Where Is He Now?

In May of 2006, it was announced that Jarret Clark had gone missing, and investigators anticipated that the case would be a simple one to solve. However, some days later, his lifeless body was discovered floating in a lake in the area, indicating that foul play was likely involved. The documentary titled “Swamp Murders: What Happened in the Woods,” which can be found on Investigation Discovery, tells the story of the murder of Jarret and demonstrates how, despite the fact that the case remained cold, a determined police investigation eventually unveiled a nefarious murder scheme. Let’s investigate the heinous crime in further depth and find out more about it, shall we?

How Did Jarret Clark Die?

Jarret Clark had just finished his senior year of high school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, when he was killed. He was 18 years old at the time of his death. He had high hopes for the years to come and even entertained thoughts of entering the military. Jarret, a young man who was described as having a good heart and being full of life, got along well with everyone he met and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His parents and teachers both had really kind things to say about him, which makes it even more challenging to come to terms with the fact that he passed away at such a young age.

On the evening of May 13, 2006, Jarret was thrilled to attend a graduation party that was being held at a campground near Wahoo Bay, Oklahoma, where he and a group of other adolescents had planned to spend the night. It was interesting to note that the show addressed the fact that Jarret decided to go camping with a group of acquaintances rather than his typical friend circle. Despite this, Jarret left his house as scheduled the following morning. At the campground, he was introduced to the other members of the group, which included Brandon Hargrove, Anthony “Tony” Wallen, Brandon’s girlfriend Courtney Manzer, Wayne Humphrey, and Brandon’s older sister Dayna Hargrove.

The day went by without apparent incident, but when Jarret did not return home the following day, his family became increasingly concerned. It appeared that nothing had happened. They didn’t waste any time getting in touch with the proper authorities and informing them of his most recent known location. The officials in charge of enforcing the law didn’t spare any time and quickly assembled big search groups to look over the surrounding locations. Despite the fact that they were very thorough in their search, there was no fresh information on the missing teenager for several days, and as a result, the hopes for his safe return began to diminish.

In the end, on May 19, 2006, the worst concerns were verified when the body of Jarret was found floating in a pool nearby. It is interesting to note that there were twigs and branches from the campsite stuck to his corpse, which suggested that he had been dragged. It did not take the authorities very long to determine that Jarret Clark had passed away. The autopsy revealed that Jarret had passed away as a result of drowning, despite the presence of blunt force injuries on his body.

Who is to Blame for Jarret Clark’s Death?

As a result of the lack of leads provided by the crime scene in the beginning of the inquiry into Jarret’s murder, the investigation proceeded relatively slowly. Despite the fact that the others who were camping at the same location as the victim reported that he had been involved in a little incident, they also claimed that Jarret was inebriated. Investigators examined the surrounding surroundings, including the neighboring lake, the campground, and even the lake itself, but their efforts were fruitless. In addition, even though the majority of Jarret’s friends were questioned by the police, they were unable to provide a viable line of inquiry, and the investigation led the authorities right back to the beginning.

There was little advancement made on the case for many years, and it remained unresolved until 2012, when a newly elected sheriff decided to revive the investigation. Soon after he began his investigation into the homicide, he discovered that Jarret’s ex-girlfriend had received some strange texts on the night of his disappearance. It did not appear that the texts had been written by Jarret, thus it was unlikely that he had sent them. After suspecting foul play, the investigators questioned everyone who had been in the area at the time of the incident until Wayne Humphrey admitted that he had restrained Jarret by his arms while Tony Wallen brutally pummeled and kicked him.

In addition, a witness who was in the area of the campsite on the evening of May 13 reported that she heard irate voices and even saw a truck drive up to the lake before she heard the splash of something being tossed into the water. The witness statement, when combined with the evidence that Jarret was dragged from the campsite, made for a fairly convincing case; nevertheless, the case was effectively closed when another witness reported that Manzer confessed to committing the murder. As a result, without wasting any time, the police were able to pick up Courtney Manzer, Dayna Hargrove (now Miller), and Anthony Wallen and place them all under arrest for their involvement in the crime.

Where Is Anthony Wallen at this time?

At first, Anthony Wallen was being investigated for murder in the first degree. However, in 2016, he made the decision to enter a guilty plea to the charge of conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree once the case was brought before the court. As a consequence of this, he was found guilty and given a sentence of eight years in jail, to be followed by 12 years on parole. Tony’s status as a parolee assures that he is still considered to be a resident of Oklahoma, despite the fact that his prison records indicate that he is currently free on parole and has been released from jail.
