Illinois to set stage for future electric vehicles
By Rachel Davis
Illinois is looking to take charge of the future.
More than $7 million will go to the Illinois Department of Transportation to maintain electric vehicle chargers. The money is coming from the Federal Highway Administration‘s Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator Program, which will be used to repair, replace or upgrade more than 100 charging ports throughout the state. The money also supports Gov. JB Pritzker’s goal to have one million electric vehicles on the road by 2030.
Pritzker announced the Illinois Finance Authority will get almost $15 million to build new charging stations as part of the State of Illinois Community Charging Program.
