How to watch sony’s playstation 5 reveal
Sony is showing the PS5 off to the public for the first time.
Sony will finally show off the specs for the PlayStation 5 on Wednesday, March 18 seemingly to counter Microsoft’s Xbox Series X specs reveal earlier in the week. Unlike Microsoft, who just unveiled this information through multiple blog posts, Sony will show off the PS5 for the first time during a livestream.
Sony announced over social media Tuesday morning that “PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny will provide a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture, and how it will shape the future of games,” and the presentation will occur on the PlayStation Blog Wednesday.
Those anticipating the latest information on PS5 likely what to know where and when they can watch the event as well as what will be shown off. We have rounded up that information so you know where to go on March 18.
What time is the PS5 reveal?
Sony’s PS5 reveal teaser confirmed that the presentation will begin at 12 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, March 18. Barring any technical difficulties, Sony will start going over its new console right at noon. If this event follows in the footsteps of Sony’s previous console reveal events, it could last up to two or three hours. That being said, if it’s a cut and dry rundown of the system’s features it may wind up being much shorter.
How to watch the PS5 reveal
Sony wrote in the official announcement that people should tune in via the PlayStation Blog rather than the company’s YouTube channel but since then has scheduled a YouTube livesteam called “The Road to PS5” just for the event. (That video is embedded above.) This could indicate that the livestream might be on some kind of proprietary video format, but it now seems like the stream will be viewable in several places. We do know, however, that the event will be broadcast solely in digital formats and in the English language.
Regardless, those interested should visit the official PlayStation Blog if they want to learn more about PS5.
What will the PS5 livestream cover?
“PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny will provide a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture, and how it will shape the future of games,” Sony’s official description for the event reads. This is a fairly vague statement that could encompass all sorts of things, but it does sound like the presentation will focus on internal specs. Like the Xbox Wire posts, this presentation will focus on the technical specifications of Sony’s new console, like the specs for its GPU and CPU as well as its oft-rumored SSD. Cerny will likely go over what this technology will let developers do, highlighting its teraflops and visual features like ray tracing.
The event could even touch on important things like release date or price, though these things are less likely. When it comes to games, a surprise announcement or two could be snuck in there, but that remains to be seen. Other features like the extent of backward compatibility do seem pretty likely, however.
We are more likely to see tech demos with previously released games. Microsoft has already done this for Xbox Series X with the likes of Minecraft, Gears 5, and State of Decay 2, while Sony has reportedly also done with behind closed doors already with Marvel’s Spider-Man. Don’t be surprised to see PS4 first-party titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man, God of War, or Days Gone running on PS5 tomorrow rather than brand new games. If you want a more general idea of how the event may be structured, watch the 2016 reveal of the PS4 Pro:
PS5 should be released in late 2020.
It’s finally happening. After months and months of being drip-fed tiny bits of information about the mysterious PlayStation 5, we’re finally going to get a look at the console itself tomorrow — or at least the games that you’ll be able to play when it launches.
Sony has kept the PS5 relatively close to its chest, at least when compared with Microsoft and the Xbox Series X. So far, we know what the controller will look like, and we’ve seen the Unreal Engine 5 demo allegedly running on a PS5 devkit. But we’ve yet to see the console itself, and hopefully tomorrow’s when Sony finally pulls the curtain back.
That said, the event is going to focus on the games, according to an announcement from Sid Shuman, senior director of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s content communications. Shuman also specifies that the broadcast was recorded ahead of time and will run at 1080p and 30 fps, which will not represent the actual quality of the games.
We do have some idea of what may be coming in the event. Of the games confirmed so far, we’re definitely going to get a look at Godfall, and I’d bet money we’ll see Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (hopefully some actual gameplay this time). Destiny 2 and Fortnite might also make appearances. In the single-player world, I’m still crossing my fingers hoping for Horizon Zero Dawn 2.
To watch the event, tune into either PlayStation’s Twitch or YouTube channels. The broadcast starts at 1pm PDT/9pm BST, and will run for about an hour. You can also look at the PlayStation 5 page on the PlayStation website for more information.

ony is hosting a big PlayStation 5 showcase tonight which could be giving us a fixed release date and price on the new console.
The show will begin at 9pm BST and, according to the official PlayStation website, it is to “give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!)”.
Sony’s showcase will clock in around 40 minutes long, giving us updates on titles currently in development by Sony and other studios.
While this is suggested it could be entirely focused on showing us gameplay and some unannounced titles coming to the PS5, we think it is likely Sony will use this opportunity to give everyone a price and release date for the PS5.
This seems likely considering how Microsoft got ahead of the next-gen console curve by announcing the Xbox Series S and X release date of November 10 and the price for each console.
We’ve done a full rundown of everything we’re predicting to see during this show – which is a lot – and you can check that out here.
Without further ado, here’s how to tune in.
How to watch the PlayStation 5 Showcase event live in the UK
The show will begin tonight, September 16, at 9 pm BST.
You can watch along by going to the PlayStation’s official YouTube channel here where the show will be broadcast live. You can also catch it on Twitch here.
This is the second PS5-related event from Sony, with the last one taking place in June. Among other things, Ratchet and Clank, Demon’s Souls and Horizon: Forbidden West were all announced during the show.
It seems incredibly likely that we’ll get a good look at some as-of-yet unannounced games and, hopefully, the release date of the console which has remained as “Holiday 2020” since the console’s reveal.
We will also be live-blogging the event when it begins, so make sure to watch along with us and keep up to date when our coverage starts.
PS5 fans are set for a huge day with a live stream being held which will take a “deep dive” into what the next Sony PlayStation console is capable of. At 4pm UK time the PS5 live stream – which will feature PlayStation architect Mark Cerny – will be broadcast online. Leaks have indicated that the upcoming PS5 live stream will last for over 50 minutes so PlayStation fans should be getting a tonne of info.
From the sounds of it the PS5 reveal event will be focussing on the nitty gritty specs details that tech buffs love to talk about.
Which should finally address any questions gamers have about how the PS5 specs will measure up against those of the rival Xbox One console.

PS5 live stream TODAY: Sony and Mark Cerny to drop next-gen details
Sony revealed the upcoming PS5 news in a surprise tweet that dropped yesterday on PlayStation social accounts.
The PlayStation Europe Twitter account was one of those, tweeting: “Tomorrow at 4pm GMT / 5pm CET, PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny provides a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture and how it will shape the future of games.”
In the aftermath of the news teases have been dropped about what fans can expect from the PS5.
Billy Khan from id Software said the PS5 was an “awesome” piece of hardware.
The lead programmer for the DOOM Eternal makers tweeted: “PS5 details will finally be made public tomorrow. My TLDR version – It’s awesome.”
Kotaku journalist Jason Schreier then quoted Khan’s comments and added: “I don’t know how many teraflops (lol) the PS5 has, but this is the sentiment I’ve heard from several technical-minded folks.
“ One told me it was “the most exciting hardware in 20 years.” Will be fascinating to see how it stacks up to the impressive Xbox Series X specs”
Schreier then added: “To elaborate a bit, that quote was referring to the whole console, but the speaker emphasized the CPU (which has long been a bottleneck for gaming consoles) and the SSD (which is said to allow for some wild possibilities vis-a-vis loading times, open worlds, etc)”.
And then in a series of posts today the reliable source of video game info tweeted: “Predictions for today’s PS5 livestream:
– It will be dry and technical (remember, this was supposed to be GDC week)
– There will be some weirdness (hopefully we hear about the unique OS features)
– The final number of GPU teraflopppps will make PlayStation console warriors sad.
“But as I’ve been saying for a while now, to normal people (the ones who don’t have PlayStation slogans in their Twitter bios or spend all day arguing about flops on ResetEra), both consoles will be powerful and impressive in ways that matter far more than max GPU speeds”.
Fans don’t have long to find out for sure though, with the PS5 reveal event start time fast approaching.
Sony is hosting an event today called the PlayStation 5 Showcase. And you can watch the live stream right here.
There will likely be a lot that Sony goes over during this online event, but the one thing that consumers definitely want to know the most is what the console will cost. As well as when you’ll be able to pre-order or buy one.
As of right now Sony hasn’t confirmed any pricing or availability details. But the PlayStation 5 Showcase is expected to contain that highly sought after information. So you won’t want to miss the live stream if you’re planning to buy Sony’s next-gen console.
The PlayStation 5 Showcase may finally reveal the pricing and release date
Sony hasn’t stated that the PlayStation 5 Showcase will reveal what the console costs or when it will launch.
But, now that Microsoft has revealed the price of the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S, the live stream is the perfect time for Sony to lift the curtain. Revealing the prices of the PS5 Disc Edition and PS5 Digital Edition second could give Sony an upper hand.
The most recent rumor is that Sony will charge $449 for the Disc Edition, and $399 for the Digital Edition.
Plus, Sony has already confirmed that the console will be available during the holiday season. With the Xbox lineup launching on November 10, Sony likely won’t be too far behind with its own consoles.
So it just makes sense for the price and availability information to be made available during the showcase. Of course Sony will also be talking about games. Which at this point is the confirmed main reason for the event.
More launch titles are probably on the menu
Games are going to be a big focal point of this live stream. The question is what games is Sony going to show off?
Well, there’s plenty of options here, and it’s likely that there will be a good mix of both unannounced games and simply more footage of ones that have already been revealed.
We could see more of Godfall, as well as more of Outriders. Both of which are new entries into the looter genre that Destiny 2, Division 2, and Borderlands 3 are in.
There’s also some speculation that Sony may announce Final Fantasy XVI as a PS5 exclusive. Making it not only the next mainline title in the franchise, but also a pretty big title to have listed as an exclusive. Even if it ends up being a timed exclusive only.
Keep in mind this is all speculation but whatever Sony shows off, it should be exciting. If you want to watch the PlayStation 5 Showcase live, you can do so from Sony’s live stream below.
We’ve waited a long time to see some more PS5 action, and now we’ve just got a little bit longer. The company is hosting a livestream for what seems like a sort of E3 replacement event, promising a bunch of next-gen gameplay from first and third-party. It’s happening today, June 11.
The show starts at 1:00 PM Pacific, or 4:00 PM Eastern. You can watch on Sony’s Twitch or Youtube Channels, and you can see the Twitch embed below.
The event should last about two hours, which likely leaves time for some of the extended gameplay sessions that have come to characterize Sony’s State of Play events.
There are two important things to know: the first is that due to work-from-home limitations, this event will be broadcast in 30 FPS and 1080p, so we won’t quite get to see the full force of the PS5 in either 4K or 60 FPS. The second is that the company has recommended that you watch the thing with headphones, because there are some interesting audio components that won’t play on laptop speakers.
As to what we’re going to see, it’s all up in the air. I’d expect some of Godfall, and I’d expect the reveal of the next Call of Duty game. I’d expect some discussion of how older games will be updated for the new hardware, but the bulk of the time spent on new, PS5-first or PS5 exclusive experiences.
I would definitely expect at least one major first-party reveal, though it’s anyone’s guess as to what it is. First-party development is arguably Sony’s greatest strength, and it’s got a few franchises that would be well poised to show us what the new machine is capable of here at the beginning of its lifecycle. I hope we get some big titles for launch year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we also see some stuff slated for 2021.
