iPhone/iPad users can also upload other types of files using either of the following:

  • The iPhone/iPad Open In menu wherever it appears in other apps
  • App Extensions on iOS 8 and later

Dropbox is one of the most popular providers of cloud storage on the planet, and if you’re a Dropbox customer making use of an iPhone or iPad, knowing how to upload multiple files at once can be a real time saver.

You don’t need to be a so-called power user to handle multiple files at once, and as anyone who uses Dropbox will know, it’s at its best when used as a dumping ground for anything and everything you need to have available across multiple devices. Thankfully, there are two different ways of handling files that you want to upload to Dropbox (depending on what they are) and soon you’ll know them both.

You can get the Dropbox app from the App Store if you don’t already have it, and once you sign into your account, tap the “Create” button.

Upload Multiple Files by Using the Files App

If you don’t mind the added complexity, using the built-in Files app is the best way to deal with any cloud service because it gives you the closest thing to a macOS Finder window that you’re going to find on an iPhone or iPad. This makes it perfect for uploading multiple files to Dropbox.

To start, open the Files app and choose the location that houses the files you want to upload to Dropbox. Tap “Select“ to begin the file selection process.

The latest update in Dropbox brings a few cool features to the table. These were missing in earlier versions (or in one case, it was complicated and tedious before).

While Dropbox for iPhone/iPad does an excellent job of syncing stuff across all your linked devices and letting you view photos etc., there are a few file management and sharing features that it hadn’t yet nailed. The new update – which comes after Dropbox acquired Mailbox (the insanely popular Gmail client) – appears to have adopted one important feature: gesture-based actions.

However, this gesture-based actions are now removed from the latest Dropbox app on your iPhone or iPad. To share folders and multiple photos, you don’t need to swipe the screen. In this short tutorial, we’ll see how you can share folders and files without having to open them. We’ll also check out the new multiphoto sharing which lets you share multiple photos at once.

How to Share Folders and Files Easily in Dropbox App for iPhone and iPad

Dropbox has improved a lot in its current version 140.2. When you launch the app, you are on the Home screen by default and find five tabs at the bottom, which include Home, Files, Create, Photos, and Account. On the top of Home screen, you find Recent, Starred, and Offline.

Step #1. Launch Dropbox on your iPhone.

Remember, when you use the Share option to send photos, Dropbox creates a link, and the link is shared with the person. I found Export a better and faster way to share multiple photos from your iPhone or iPad using the Dropbox app.

It seems that Apple have made changes to their IOS that limits the upload of pictures and files to a dropbox folder to one image at a time.

Previous to the latest IOS upgrade you could select any number of images and upload them to a dropbox folder (I did this frequently) but now you can only do one image at a time.

Apple clearly pushing users to the icloud!

Still works just fine for me, on the latest iOS. I’ve sent multiple files from my Camera Roll to Dropbox via the Files app, and directly within the Dropbox app.

What steps, exactly, are you taking to upload your files?

This works as long as you are not interrogating the meta-data to identify the files to save, ie if I want all of the pictures I took at Melbourne Airport to go into a Melbourne Airport File, I can’t search by area using this workaround. Previously, I could go into IOS image search, select Melbourne Airport then select the images I want and upload them to the relevant folder.

therein lay the problem at step 5 because Dropbox is NO LONGER an option UNLESS you only choose 1 image!

As I said. You don’t choose Dropbox. You choose Save to Files , and then Dropbox is an option within the Files app.

Previously, I could go into IOS image search, select Melbourne Airport then select the images I want and upload them to the relevant folder.

And you still can. I just opened Photos , tapped Search and entered a city name that I visited recently. When some of the images appeared in the results, I tapped See All to see the full results. I tapped Select and then tapped a number of images to slect them. There were five images selected. I then tapped the Share icon in the bottom-right. In the list that appears, I selected Save to Files then Tapped Dropbox to load a list of the folders in my account. I tapped the folder that I wanted to save the images to and then tapped Save . It worked perfectly.

If you’re not seeing Dropbox as an option with the Files app, make sure you’ve opened Files and enabled the Dropbox option.

How to upload multiple files to dropbox at once using an iphone or ipad

Dropbox for the iPhone/iPad is a real boon for a lot of users who rely on Dropbox. Instant access to files – even to the point of getting offline access – is something every Dropbox user needs.

For all its features, Dropbox does make a few things a little complex. Today, we’re looking at uploading photos manually instead of letting the app take control of syncing your Camera Roll photos.

Dropbox was basically designed to give “access” to your files. That’s why the first version of the app had very little in the way of creating, uploading or editing files. The recent update, about which we posted recently, brings some really useful features like share, swipe-gestures and multiple uploads/sharing.

You can upload all the photos in your camera roll to Dropbox by enabling the Camera Upload feature. If it’s not yet enabled, go ahead. Try it. Open the Photos menu (from the bottom menu bar) and tap on ‘Enable’ where it says ‘Turn on Camera Upload’. You’ll not see this message if Camera Upload is already enabled.

But there’s a catch to this feature: all the photos in your camera roll get uploaded and whenever you click a new picture on the iPhone/iPad, that gets uploaded to Dropbox too! Sounds a little too obtrusive right?

You want to stop this but you still want to upload specific photos to Dropbox. How do you do that? That’s precisely what we’re going to look at:

How to Upload iPhone or iPad Photos to Dropbox Manually

Step #1. Open Dropbox → We’re going to create a new folder where we’ll upload the photos. This way, you can see the photos easily. To do this, tap on Files tab → tap on + Sign → tap on Create Folder.

How to upload multiple files to dropbox at once using an iphone or ipad

Step #2. Give it a name.

How to upload multiple files to dropbox at once using an iphone or ipad

Step #3. Tap on + Icon again → Tap on Upload PhotosSelect the Photos and Tap on Next.

Step #4. Finally, tap on Upload.

How to upload multiple files to dropbox at once using an iphone or ipad

That’s all, folks!

So this is how you can upload photos to Dropbox. The problem, however, is that the folder doesn’t switch to a photo-view and the photos don’t show up in the Photos menu. To fix this, you have to temporarily enable Camera Uploads and then break it off. This way, a camera roll upload album is created. You can now add photos to this album and they’ll be reflected in the Photos menu.

Today’s tutorial will help you transfer and copy your iPhone text messages to Dropbox so that you have all your iMessages and SMS messages backed up and archived in your Dropbox storage account. You can choose to save every text message from all your iPhone contacts or just selected messages from a single contact.

If you are not familiar with Dropbox, you’ve probably at least heard friends or co-workers mention the platform! The company is one of the most popular cloud storage solutions in the world and it went public in March of 2018. Since the company’s inception in 2007, Dropbox users have uploaded over 400 billion pieces of content. That’s a lot of data!

Dropbox users also cover a wide spectrum of age groups, both in the business and consumer market. Some of Dropbox’s earliest adopters in the first years of the company were Millennials, who are currently the largest demographic in the United States. However, today Dropbox users also include 56% of the Fortune 500 companies which accounts for many of the company’s Baby Boomer clientele.

Regardless of which category Dropbox user you fall into, let’s get started with our tutorial so that you can make sure your personal iPhone text messages are backed up and stored in the Dropbox account of your choice!

How to save and copy text messages to Dropbox

Follow these steps to save and copy text messages to Dropbox

Back up your iPhone or iPad on your computer.

Launch Decipher TextMessage.

Select an iPhone and choose a contact.

Pick “Export Current Conversation PDF” to save text messages to your PC or Mac.

Open Dropbox and copy the PDF of your saved iPhone text messages to any folder in your Dropbox account!

Decipher TextMessage – Transfer text messages to computer before copying SMS to Dropbox

Decipher TextMessage lets you save iPhone text messages to your computer. You run the software on your Mac or Windows machine and after backing up your device via iTunes, all your text messages will be imported into the program. After selecting a contact and choosing export, a PDF containing all your iPhone text messages will be immediately saved to your computer and you can quickly copy the PDF to Dropbox!

Note: If you are a Mac user and running Catalina or Big Sur, you no longer back up with iTunes and now simply make a backup of your device via the Finder.

How to upload multiple files to dropbox at once using an iphone or ipad

When you save your iPhone text messages in PDF format to Dropbox, the PDF also contains all your photo attachments which will be embedded in the PDF. Furthermore, Decipher TextMessage displays the contact name and phone number on every single individual text message in the PDF which users often find helpful!

Tutorial Tip: Keep in mind that when you move the PDF of your text messages from your computer to Dropbox, the file’s “permanent” location is no longer your computer. If you sign out of Dropbox on your PC, your Dropbox synced files will no longer be on your PC. If you also want to keep a copy of the exported text messages on your PC, then simply make sure you “copy” the PDF to Dropbox instead of just “moving” the file.

Added benefits of saving text messages to Dropbox

Once you’ve copied the PDF containing all your iPhone text messages to your Dropbox account, you can easily share the Dropbox folder with anyone of your choice! Some individuals find this a convenient way to share personal text message records with family members or relatives.

Similarly, people often like to share their exported SMS messages for business or legal purposes with their attorney, lawyer, or solicitor. You can also print the text messages directly from Dropbox by opening the PDF and selecting, you guessed it, “Print.”

Lastly, should you ever lose your iPhone or if your computer crashes, having a separate copy of your iPhone text messages in Dropbox will ensure that all your SMS history and conversations are archived and safe in a remote cloud storage location of your choice.

How to upload multiple files to dropbox at once using an iphone or ipad

Transferring text messages to Dropbox is a great way to securely back up and store your SMS messages in a secondary location!

Hopefully you now have all your iPhone text messages backed up and copied to your Dropbox account! Be proactive and follow these quick steps on a monthly basis. This will ensure that you always have a safety copy of your text messages and photo attachments should the need ever arise!

If you need help saving or copying your iPhone text messages to your Dropbox account, simply reach out via our support page and someone from our San Francisco or Phoenix Decipher Tools offices will get back to you with help.
