How to get TM 016 Psybeam in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

TM 016 is a craftable Technical Machine for Psybeam, a Special Move in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that deals a decent amount of damage and has a 10% chance of confusing the target. As a Psychic-type Move, Psybeam is notably effective when used on Fighting- and Poison-type opponents. While its effectiveness falls off during the mid to late-game portions of one’s playthrough, Psybeam is one of the best Psychic-type Moves to use during the early game. Its base Power of 65 is decent, and 100 Accuracy guarantees a strike on targets. Moreover, its chance of inflicting Confusion is a nice bonus that can grant an advantage in battle. 

Finding the Psybeam TM in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

TM 016 Psybeam Map Location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Acquiring the Psybeam TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can be done relatively early on during one’s playthrough. Starting from the Los Platos (East) Pokécenter, Trainers must travel southeastward toward the coastline. After passing by a ruin and Axel the Student, players will find Psybeam beneath a tree near the cliff shores, far southeast of Los Platos.

The southern coast of Area Five of the South Province is not the only location where players can find a copy of the Psybeam TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. According to YouTuber GameLoc, another copy of TM 016 can be encountered atop a dusty ridge overlooking the city of Levincia in East Province (Area Three). Players can reach the spot by traveling southeast of the East Province (Area Three) Watchtower. Keep in mind that only one copy of the TM is needed to unlock its recipe at TM Machines in Paldea.

  • Undoubtedly, one of the fastest ways to earn League Points is by selling unwanted Pokémon materials at the TM Machines of Pokécenters.

  • As its name implies, Psyduck Down is obtained from members of the Water-type Duck Pokémon, Psyduck.
  • Psyduck can be found in almost every region of Paldea except the Asado Desert and Casseroya Lake. As a result, encountering this pocket monster should be a fairly common occurrence.
  • Nevertheless, if players are struggling to find Psyduck, they can eat a Zesty Sandwich or Vegetable Sandwich to bolster their Encounter Power for Water-type pocket monsters.
