Customize Boot Screen In Windows

1. First of all, you need to create a backup of your windows boot screen system file for that goes to My Computer >C:/ >Windows >System32.
2. Now there you will see file ntoskrnl.exe copy and paste the file in any other location of your computer.
3. Now download and install Resource Hacker in your computer.
4. Now after downloading and installing launch the tool in your Windows PC
5. Now in the program click on File and then select Open option and then locate the ntoskrnl.exe file.
6. Now when the file is opened click on the Action button there and then select replace Bitmap option.
7. Now there select any of your desired screens and then click on the OK button.
8. Now click on the File button and then choose Save As option.
   And now save the file as ntoskrnl.exe.
9. Now, turn your PC off and then start it in the Safe mode.
10. Now copy your created ntoskrnl.exe file and paste it into the C:/ >Windows >System32.
11. Now restart your computer in normal mode.

Did you know that you can make your own custom boot animations for Android? Whilst tinkering with important files may strike fear in some Android owners, it’s actually very straightforward to download or even create your very own custom boot animations.

In this article I’ll touch a little on how to install custom boot animations from the web. If you would like to create your own animations to use instead, you can check that out here. This guide requires practically no technical know-how, although you’ll need to root your device beforehand.

What are Custom Boot Animations?

You may have noticed an animated logo showcasing your phone manufacturer or your network carrier each time you switch your Android phone on. This short animation that appears before reaching your home launcher is called a boot animation. Typically, boot animations are not changeable but with a couple of tools we can switch things up.

How to Download & Install Custom Boot Animations

If you have already rooted your device then you’re more than halfway there. With this method you’ll be able to download an app that can be used to do all of the work for you.

This method can only be used to install existing animations, so you’ll have to download one online. I’ve had a search around and found that the selection below offer the best collection of custom boot animations for download. If you’d like to create your very own animation you’ll need to see the other method.

Step 1 – Finding a Boot Animation

Your first step involves finding a boot animation to download. We would suggest navigating to one of the locations below from your smartphone. From each of these websites you can install a bootanimation.zip. Nothing else needs to be done to it, so make sure not to extract it. We’ll need the boot animations root app for later, so if you choose that option you can skip step 2.

• Bhoot (mobile optimized boot animations *Some NSFW*)

• XDA Developers Boot List (81 Boot loops up to 1080P resolution)
• 2K XDA Developers Boot List (Big list of 1440×2560 resolution boot animations)

If you choose Bhoot from the list above, the website will let you set up the animation via different methods but we’d suggest choosing the bootanimation.zip method. That way you can learn a method that will work for all of the sources listed above.

Step 2: Downloading the installer app

Next you will need to install an application from the Google Play Store. This app does require root access so make sure you’re rooted before continuing. The application can be found here.

The app we listed is free but if you purchase the pro version you can also preview animations from within the app.

Step 3: Installing the Boot Animation

You can now install the custom boot animation that you downloaded earlier. The screenshot below shows you the interface for this application. Follow the steps below to find your new boot animation.

Tap the ‘Local’ tab on the left side

Locate the download location of your animation (default location is the ‘download’ folder)

For those who picked Root App from the Google Play Store –

If you chose to use the app from the Google Play store as your source for boot animations, you can navigate to the tab at the top which reads ‘server’ from within the app instead and choose an animation on the list to install.

The app will now install the custom boot animation. You can sit back and watch the magic happen. The next time you start up your device, your boot animation will have changed.

This method can be great for adding a bit of extra style to your Android smartphone in a place where most wouldn’t expect it. The “Splash Screen” is the graphical image or logo that is briefly displayed at boot up of the system. The splash screen for the Vault can be customized to enhance the brand awareness of the product and/or solution. Protectli provides a Windows tool that can be used to change the BIOS and customize the splash screen.

Splash Screen File

The splash screen file is a “bitmap” file with an extension of “.bmp” in Windows. The bitmap file used for the splash screen must have maximum dimensions of 800 x 600 and be less than 1.4 MB. If there is already a logo file in “.jpg” or “.png” format, that file can be converted to a bitmap file using the Windows Paint program or other tools.

Verify the Desired Splash Screen File

• On Windows, right click the desired file
• Select Properties
• Verify “Type of File” is BMP file
• Select the Details tab
• Verify the Dimensions are 800 x 600 or less
• Verify the Size is 1.4 MB or less

Convert the Desired Splash Screen File

If the desired file is in JPG or PNG format, it can be converted to Bitmap using the Windows Paint program. This procedure is only necessary if the desired file is not already in Bitmap format.

• On Windows, right click the desired file
• Select Edit
• Verify the Paint program starts and the graphical image is displayed
• Select File->Save As->Save as type:
• Verify the dropdown menu that contains these bitmap options is displayed
  • Monochrome Bitmap
  • 16 Color Bitmap
  • 24 Color Bitmap
  • 24-bit Bitmap
• Select the desired bitmap format
• Note that the formats listed in the dropdown are in increasing order of quality and increasing order of size
• Select Save
• Right click on the newly created bitmap and verify that it is less than 1.4 MB
• If greater than 1.4 MB, repeat this procedure with a lesser quality bitmap format

Download the BIOS

The BIOS folder for each specific model of the Vault is available at this link. Be very sure when downloading and installing the BIOS that it is the correct BIOS for the specific Vault. Installing incorrect BIOS may result in an inoperable system.

• Download the BIOS zip file for the model of the Vault from the link above
• Verify the BIOS zip file is downloaded
• Unzip the file and verify the BIOS folder is downloaded

There are two BIOS logo tools. One is for the FW1, FW2, and FW4 models of the Vault. The other is for the FW6 models of the Vault. The FW1, FW2, and FW4 tool is at this link. The FW6 tool is at this link.

Now that the new bitmap file has been created, the BIOS folder must be transferred to a USB drive and then used to update the BIOS on the Vault. Follow the instructions at this link to create a bootable USB drive, transfer the new BIOS folder to the USB drive, and install the new BIOS on the Vault.

In our previous post we mentioned how it’s possible to install custom boot animations from your web for use on your Android device. In this blog we’ll explain how you can use free tools to create your very own boot animation that can be showcased whilst your smartphone boots up.

In order to complete this guide you will need to have the following:

A rooted smartphone

Windows XP or higher (Windows 7 recommended)

Patience, time and skill to create your own animation

Image editing software like GIMP or Photoshop

How do I Make My Own Boot Animation?

To create your own boot animation, you will need to use the bootanimation factory software provided above. This software has been built by XDA member despotovski01 and can be used to create an animation, package it up and prepare it for install on your device all within the application suite.

Using the software can be a little tricky so we’ll be explaining how to use it and will be providing screenshots as we go.

Step 1 – Install the software

You’ll need these, so visit the links below to download them –

Once downloaded, follow the installation steps for each program.

Step 2 – Creating the Files

First, head to a location on your computer you are happy to save files to. We have picked a new folder location in our documents library. You will need to create a folder named Part0 and an empty .txt file named desc.txt.

Step 3 – Creating the Animation

For this step you’ll need to create each animation image separately in your chosen image editing software.

The animation should be created as separate images in your chosen image editing software. You’ll need previous experience with animating or creating gifs to know how to create a smooth flowing animation, otherwise you may need to use trial and error to find out what works best. In this guide we’ll be creating a simple pulsing light on a dark background with Photoshop.

Before you can start creating images, you must note the resolution of your Android display. We’d recommend searching for your smartphone on GSMarena. We are using the LG G4 for the base of this guide, but you can use your own smartphone or tablet. Look at the image below to see an example of where the display resolution will be shown.

Now that we know the resolution, (1440×2560 in our case) we can start creating images for our animation. We must image resolution in our editing software with our phone display. See below.

Each time you make an adjustment to your image for your resolution, you must save it. Because our animation is quite simple, we only required nine different images. You must save the images in numerical order in the part0 folder we created earlier. An example would be X00001.jpg, X00002.jpg, X00003.jpg and so on.

The software used later will set up the boot animation we are creating to loop indefinitely until reaching the home screen. Once you have finished the images for your animation you can close down your image editing software.

Step 4 – Editing the .txt file

For this step, you will need to edit the empty desc.txt file we instructed you to make earlier. Right click the desc.txt file and click Edit with Notepad++.

As seen in the image above, you will need twelve separate lines within the Notepad file. The first line is used to determine the boot animation width, height and frame rate. The width/height should be the same dimensions as your display resolution found on GSMarena earlier. In this case with the LG G4, we have 1440 x 2560. Frame rate can be adjusted to fine tune the animation, but we’d suggest anywhere between 11 and 30.

For the next eleven lines, copy the image provided above. This will ensure your image loops properly.

Save the file as desc.txt and close it down.

Step 5 – Using Bootanimation Factory

After following the step above, your animation will be ready for installation. You will need Bootanimation Factory for this last step. If you downloaded it earlier, you can search for ‘Boot Animation Factory’ in the Windows Search bar and open it from there.

The image provided above showcases the software splash page. For a new animation you’ll want to click the bottom left box which reads ‘Create a new boot animation.’ You can now choose the boot animation source. Choose the folder option and locate the folder with your part0 and desc.txt folder and file.

If all is working right, you should see your resolution and frame rate on the right hand side.

Next, click the ‘add loop’ button and proceed to select the ‘Part0’ folder in the drop-down box. Make sure to set the number of loops and loop delay as 0 – this will ensure the animation loops smoothly.

Next, press the ‘preview loop button’ to see that the animation is working properly and then click the ‘save loop button.’ Save it as ‘bootanimation.zip’. Next click the thick green arrow in the top left corner. From here, click the Boot Animation > Flash to Phone option.

Final Installation Steps

Now attach your phone via USB cable.

Click Choose Boot Animation

Click the saved bootanimation.zip file

Select System/Media/ in the location box.

Select bootanimation.zip in the box underneath.

Click ‘Flash to Phone’

Finally, disconnect your phone once completed and restart your device to see the new animation!

8. Now boot into the custom recovery of your android device and flash the update.zip file.

Android as we know it, stands out as the most used OS and one of its biggest selling points is the customization possible due to its open nature.

If you own an Android device, you can gain root access and further customize it to your heart’s content. Popular custom ROMs like CyanogenMod have been a blessing to the Android ecosystem and these community-driven projects have seen to the growth of Android and contributed immensely to it.

Even devices that have been cut off from software updates by the OEMs benefit greatly from the continuous support offered by these custom ROM makers, not to mention the added functionality, features and tweaks that come with most custom ROMs.

In this post however, we will show you how to install a custom boot animation on your Android device.

Out of the host of apps we picked two third-party apps that will enable you to install a custom boot animation and they require root access.

Bhoot – boot animations

The first is Bhoot – boot animations. This app has a whole archive of boot animations created by an active community and you can choose from hundreds of custom made animations.

Bhoot’s Android app helps convert your GIFs, MP4s and WEBMs to Android boot animations. With a single click, you can install any boot animation of your choice. The app does not require root access if you are using a custom ROM that supports it, such as CyanogenMod 11 and 12, Paranoid Android, AOKP etc.

The community even provides assistance to those with issues specific to a ROM and the developer also notes that there’s a slight risk of a boot loop and if by any chance this happens, you can go to this directory ‘/system/media/bootanimation.zip’ in your system partition and delete the ‘bootanimation.zip’ file.

You will however need a root explorer to explore your system partition and we recommend using Es file explorer (link below).

We also recommend going for the top rated animations, which will be the first you’ll see when you open the Bhoot app. They are mostly stable compared to the rest and you should also visit their Google plus community page (link below) for more tips.

Boot Animation Changer

The second app is the boot animation changer and you can also find it on the Play Store. The boot animation changer offers various types of pre-installed boot animations and it supports the installation of the boot animations on your SDcard.

The developer specifically notes on the play store that it will work on non-rooted devices provided the device’s directory structure contains a local folder. The developer doesn’t elaborate exactly what he meant by that, but it’s worth a try.

A third easy and straight forward way is with the CyanogenMod theme engine that you can find on most custom ROMs out there today.

Although, there are several themes accessible via the CM theme engine, most of them are paid. However, outside the theme engine, there are several free themes that you can download on the Google play store. Included in the themes are some custom boot animations that you can still change using Bhoot or Boot Animation Changer.

You should know that these apps or any other methods of tweaking your device that require access to your system partition will need root access and that, depending on your OEM, may void your warranty.

Please follow the steps above at your own responsibility because with any such method there is always the risk of bricking your Android phone or tablet.

However, have you ever tried to change the boot animation on your phone? We’ll show you how you can get some custom animations on your smartphone and shake up that boring old boot up animation.

What is a boot animation?

To begin with, what is boot animation? It’s actually the little startup animation that plays when you turn on your Android smartphone, while the system is launching. It often features the manufacturer’s logo.

There are several methods to install a new boot animation on Android. I’ll present the simplest ones, which work for me almost all of the time. Both methods work on any Android device, provided you have rooted it.

Install a boot animation manually

You need to install a file explorer that manages root rights. Root Explorer or Root Browser work very well, for example, but others are also suitable.

• Once the root permissions have been activated, go to the root of your device, locate the System directory and go to the Permissions menu, depending on the app, by a long press on the folder or by opening the menu key and selecting Properties.
• Here, depending on the application you will see 9 boxes, sorted by “Read” or “-r”,”Write” or “-wr” and “Execute” or “-x”.
• Once you’ve opened Properties, you will need to make sure you give it all the read, write, and execute options under Permission.
• Once you’ve done this, head into the System file now and then go to Media or Multimedia (depending on your device).
• You’ll find a file named bootanimation.zip. or similar (for Samsung, for example, you can find bootsamsung.qmg) Rename it to “bootanimation. zip1“: you have just saved your boot animation in case you need it later.
• Now all you have to do is find an animation that you like and copy it to this folder, renaming it bootanimation and not touching its extension (“. zip” or “. qmg”). You will be able to find various options online.
• Restart, and there you go!

Change boot animations using an app

If the manual method isn’t your piece of cake, you can also use the following app as long as you have root access on your device.

Boot Animations for Superuser offers a ton of boot animations right off the bat, so as soon as you get tired on one, you can swap them out very easily. Unfortunately, many of the things found in this app require payment, so not all the animations are free.

For the record, I have had some problems with the application in the past, which doesn’t work sometimes. In this case, uninstalling and reinstalling fixed everything.

There are occasions when getting into Android’s bootloader or recovery systems is necessary—perhaps the OS is having issues and you need to factory reset, or maybe you want to root your phone. Fortunately, booting into the bootloader and recovery are both very simple. Here’s how to do it.

How to Access Android’s Bootloader

Getting into the bootloader isn’t necessarily something you’ll need to do often, but it’s definitely something that’s good to know how to do just in case. There are two different ways to go about accessing the bootloader: directly from the device or using commands on your PC. Let’s cover the former first.

Accessing the Bootloader Directly from the Device

To get into the bootloader without using a computer, the first thing you’ll want to do is completely power the device down. The following instructions should work on 90% of the intended devices, but if for some reason you’re having issues, you may have to look up further instructions for your specific handset:

• Nexus and Developer Devices: Press and hold the volume down and power buttons at the same time. When the Google splash screen appears, release them.
• Samsung Devices: Samsung devices don’t have a traditional bootloader, but something the company calls “Download mode.” To access it, press and hold the volume down, power, and home buttons until the Samsung logo shows up, then release. Be warned, however, it’s basically useless without a computer. Press and hold home, power, and both volume buttons to exit download mode.
• LG Devices: Press and hold the volume down and power buttons until the LG logo appears, then release them. If this doesn’t work, you may have to release the power and volume down buttons for a second when the LG logo appears, then re-press them until the bootloader shows up.
• HTC Devices: Press and hold the volume down button, then power up the device while keeping the volume down key pressed. The bootloader on HTC devices is referred to as “fastboot mode.”
• Motorola Devices: Press and hold the volume down and power buttons for a few seconds.

With all the above commands, the bootloader may take a few seconds to show up after you release the keys. When it does, you can continue with whatever it is you need to do.

Accessing the Bootloader with ADB

You can also boot into the bootloader with the Android Debug Bridge utility, also known as ADB. You’l need to install and set up ADB first using these instructions. To further simplify executing commands from your computer, you may also want to add ADB to your Windows system PATH.

Once you’ve got all that set up, getting into the bootloader is the simplest thing you’ll ever do. Open a command prompt inside of Windows and type the following:

Boom. The device should reboot and you’ll be in the bootloader.

It’s worth mentioning that this doesn’t work on Samsung devices—they just reboot back into Android.

How to Access Android’s Recovery Environment

Once you’re in the bootloader, you’re already halfway to accessing recovery on most devices, though you can use ADB as well.

Accessing the Bootloader Directly from the Device

Boot into the bootloader using the above instructions, then use the volume up and down keys to navigate through the menus. Hit the power button to execute the selected command:

• Nexus, LG, and Motorola Devices: Use the volume buttons till you see the “Recovery mode” option, then hit power.
• HTC Devices: Select “HBOOT” first, which will open a new menu where you’ll select “recovery.”
• Samsung Devices: With the device powered down, press and hold power, volume UP, and the home button. An update screen will appear for a few seconds, then it will launch recovery.

Some devices may take you straight to the recovery menu, but on others, this will take you to a screen with an Android and a triangle.

To access recovery mode options, you’ll want to hold down the Power button and tap volume up. The Android System Recovery menu should appear, and you can perform whatever operations you need.

Accessing Recovery with ADB

You can also boot into the bootloader with the Android Debug Bridge utility, also known as ADB. You’l need to install and set up ADB first using these instructions. To further simplify executing commands from your computer, you may also want to add ADB to your Windows system PATH.

Once that’s taken care of, it’s another super simple command to enter recovery mode:

Poof! Like magic, your Android device will power off and reboot into recovery. From there, you will use the volume buttons to navigate the list and the power button to execute the desired command (unless you’ve flashed a custom recovery like TWRP, in which case you can touch the screen to access different options).

While the bootloader itself is relatively useless without access to a computer (for fastboot, or ODIN on Samsung devices), recovery can be a game changer if your device won’t even fully boot into the operating system. Just jump into recovery and perform a factory reset. Life, saved.

REQUIREMENTS:-

• Android Device
• New Boot Animation [ you can download it by searching “Boot animation for android to download” on google ]
• boot animation changer tool.exe you can download it by clicking here
• Device connected to your computer with USB debugging option enabled [ you can enable it in settings > developers option ]
• ADB drivers installed

PROCEDURE:-
after you have all the requirements now start boot animation changer no root.exe note that new boot animation should be in the same folder in which boot animation changer no root.exe is placed. now follow the steps which is given in this tool after all the procedure your boot animation will be changed and your device will reboot and then you will enjoy new boot animation.
