Fergie’s NBA All-Star Game Performance is the Talk of Twitter for All the Wrong Reasons

By Daniel Kim

NBA All-Star Weekend wrapped up Sunday night with LeBron James being crowned Most Valuable Player but many are focused on Fergie’s rendition of the national anthem.

Her take seemed to be a sexy, jazz-like rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” complete with extended runs and ending with an enthusiastic, “Let’s play some basketball!”

Ballers like Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green and teammate Steph Curry were seen laughing as she began the last verse.

Online, Twitter users had a field day.

“Fergie was singing like she was in a car that kept making sharp turns,” one person tweeted.

“Even Carl Lewis thinks Fergie’s anthem was trash,” said another.

And a separate person had a more political take.

“NBA owners whining about kneelers desecrating the anthem and then they wheel Fergie out and let her do that.”
