Kempthorne served as Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior from 2006 to 2009, as Governor of the State of Idaho from 1999 to 2006, as U.S. Senator for the State of Idaho from 1993 to 1999, and as Mayor of the City of Boise from 1986 to 1993.
