Demolition almost complete of Rock Island buildings

Demolition is underway and almost complete on two buildings in Rock Island.
The Klass buildings at 1st Ave. and 19th St. have been vacant for more than 20 years, and they were deemed at risk of collapsing. The City of Rock Island initiated legal action to get the most recent owner to repair or demolish them. The owner agreed to let the City tear them down.
Crews at the scene say they expect to be done with demolition February 13.
