Boruto Uzumaki VA debuts in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 as Ui Ui

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 8 is scheduled to premiere around the world via the Crunchyroll streaming service on Thursday, September 14.

The new episode is expected to adapt the remaining pages from chapter 83, the entirety of chapters 84 and 85, and the opening to chapter 86 – which includes the introduction of a brand-new character called Ui Ui.

In Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, Ui Ui is played by veteran voice artist Yuuko Sanpei, who fans will undoubtedly recognize as the voice of Boruto Uzumaki from the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime. Sanpei debuted as Boruto Uzumaki in the theatrical movie from 2015 and has reprised the role in more than 256 episodes and several TV specials.

Away from the worlds of Jujutsu and Ninjutsu, Sanpei has also featured in Daily Lives of High School Boys as Hidenori Tabata, Captain Tsubasa as Tsubasa Oozora, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood as Selim, Yes PreCure 5 as Nozomi Yumehara, Eureka Seven as Renton Thurston, and Kimi ni Todoke as Chizuru Yoshida.

Back to Jujutsu Kaisen, Ui Ui is the younger brother of fan favorite Jujutsu sorcerer Mei Mei and will be part of Yuji Itadori’s team during the upcoming battle of Shibuya. Despite being in his early teenage years, Ui Ui is mature beyond his age and is defined by his unwavering loyalty to his sister. In accordance, when someone disrespects Mei Mei or is deemed a ‘threat’, Ui Ui develops a significant hatred towards them, which in turn ‘powers up’ his Jujutsu techniques.

Ui Ui has four main techniques that make him a useful companion in such a devastating battle as the Shibuya Incident. These are, Heightened Cursed Energy Manipulation (ability to enhance powers on demand), Binding Vows (a limit to his power until Mei Mei gives him permission to let go), Innate Technique (a version of teleportation), and Simple Domain (neutralizing Cursed Energy in the area surrounding him).
