Are Rae and Lexi still together after ‘Ultimatum Queer Love’?

By Emily Bell

Lexi and Rae, who were one of the few couples to get engaged on the finale of “The Ultimatum: Queer Love,” have faced some challenges after the cameras stopped rolling. So, are they still together?

Chris Coelen, the creator of the show, spoke to Variety in July 2022 about the reasons people give for not being ready to marry. He mentioned that while some of those reasons may have validity, the underlying truth is often uncertainty about marrying their current partner.

Lexi and Rae initially connected on Bumble and quickly hit it off after a memorable night in West Hollywood, California. However, their relationship did not last.

In accordance with the rules of “The Ultimatum,” Lexi and Rae had to break up after the engagement, date other cast members for a week, and then decide who they wanted to enter into a three-week “trial marriage” with. Following that, they would move back in together for an additional three weeks and ultimately decide whether to leave the show engaged to each other, engaged to someone else, or single.

During the reunion episode, host JoAnna Garcia Swisher checked in with the engaged couples to see how their relationships were progressing. Lexi expressed that the past year had been amazing, with proposals, vacations, and moving back to California. However, the reunion episode ended with a text card stating that Lexi and Rae had chosen to end their relationship, and the wedding had been called off.

Lexi explained that they spent an additional month trying to work through some unresolved issues that had resurfaced. There was a breakdown of trust that they couldn’t repair, despite their efforts. It involved a lot of fighting and a sense of pride in wanting to persist.

For Lexi, there was hesitation in proposing initially due to the fear of what a failed engagement would mean. She felt weighed down by that possibility, especially when she was genuinely trying to make the relationship work. The breakup was painful and sad for both of them, as they mourned the loss of their connection.

Despite the end of their relationship, Lexi emphasized that she still cares for Rae and wishes her the best. They both recognized that they weren’t the right fit for each other.

In May 2023, Lexi discussed the trust issues they faced, including Rae’s involvement with Vanessa, their trial wife and the show’s villain. Lexi mentioned that trust and a person’s character were vital in relationships, and that’s where the nerve was struck.

Lexi expressed no regrets about participating in the show. She believed that everything happened as it was meant to be. If given the chance, she would have liked to continue living with her trial wife, Mal, for three more weeks, as she cherished their time together.

Lexi still desires to get married someday and spend her life with someone. However, she believes it’s important to reflect on the reasons behind that desire and take it into consideration. The rigid societal expectations of when and how to get married have shifted for her. She advises others to listen to themselves, follow their hearts, and consider their thoughts to reach the right conclusions.

According to Netflix’s Tudum event, Lexi has found love with someone new, who provides her with love, happiness, and an intimacy she sought after her relationship with Rae ended.

As for Rae, she is currently single and residing in Orange County, CA. However, she plans to move to Los Angeles in search of a new community and, eventually, a soulmate. Rae feels more secure and confident than ever and believes it’s an ideal state to be in when looking for a future partner.

So, to answer the question, Lexi and Rae are no longer together after their journey on “The Ultimatum: Queer Love.”
