15-year-old Chris Asare-Budu Death; Atlee High School Student identified as the victim in Wednesday’s fatal train crash
Following a train collision that killed a 15-year-old boy on November 29 west of Cool Spring Road Crossing, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is presently conducting an investigation.
Hanover Emergency Communications was called by Buckingham Branch Railroad on Wednesday to report that a train had hit a pedestrian. The victim was located and declared dead when Hanover deputies, along with Hanover Fire and EMS personnel, arrived.
Chris Asare-Budu, a 15-year-old student at Atlee High School, has been confirmed as the victim.
Colonel David R. Hines, the Hanover County Sheriff, said, “We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family during this difficult time.”
Investigations are currently ongoing into the circumstances behind this incident. Nonetheless, given that the neighborhood is situated between Atlee High School and Chickahomony Middle School, a number of neighbors in the Cool Spring Subdivision have voiced concerns with the way that local children frequently cross the tracks to get to school.
